So many talented Italian jazz pianists: Rea, Guidi, Bollani, Battaglia, Paliaga!

Seal's first and in my view finest.  Never sounded better on my system than it does this evening.

This was my first disc by him and many followed - I think his style isn't as well suited to everything he plays, but the Ravel is brilliant.

...and hyperion recordings tend to be quite good quality in my experience...

Jack White, Lazaretto. I have seen Him on Jules Holland and liked Him but never purchased any of his work, so thought i'd give this a go. MP3 download as waiting for the CD to land.

Giulini/CSO: Brahms Symphony No.4 1969 recording

This is one of my favourite 4th. Wish he was still around to conduct the CSO.

I've a soft spot for Italian conductors ( Toscanini, Canteli and Giulini ) but current living Italian conductors have been disappointing for me.

For a number of years when Seger and the band were at their peak they were my constant musical companions to rock along with, this album was their first big hit and very good to listen to again.

Great album which I haven't listened to in so so long.

Anderson East in concert. Don't usually rave about artists much but this is absolutely superb. Killer band

Brilliant playing by Béatrice Martin, in a fun and fiery program of French baroque. The liner note are a separate recommendation: very informative, if not the easiest of essays.

Snow Patrol: Final Straw 2004 release

It was heavily hyped at Virgin store so I picked it up and probably played once and didn't like it much.

Fast forward 11 years later and I still don't think they are that special.

Sounds like any other alt. rock group from the same era. Wilco probably cornered a low energy male voicing singing market for this sort of thing.

CD.  I recently bought the box set with 7 cd's. Just listening to the first one.

Members could recommend another version?

Now CD 2. While ripping the last CD of the box set.

2015 Japanese remastered edition. Outstanding.

Morini/Rodzinski/Royal Philharmonic: Brahms Violin Concerto 1956 recording

Morini does not have a harmonic richness and rather comes  off dry. Fine lined as the melody line spooling like a thin thread. I prefer more bolder earthy solidity for this tune and more drama would have been nice. Too polite and icey without any hint of intimacy.

Grumiaux/Van Beinum/Concertgebouw 1958 recording

A massive infusion of hot blood into the tune contrast to an anemic ice queen Morini. Van Beinum's orchestra direction also has wider dynamic swings and more rhythmic than stodgy Rodzinski.

Violin now is bold and firm with a warm overtone. Grumiaux creates a great drama yet keep it very personal.

And this original nono Epic record is unbelievably quiet and gobs of details and dynamics.

Very nice!

Not so much a soundtrack as an Aimee Mann album. Seems a shame it had to polluted with a few other tracks at the end.

Giving this another listen - a couple of the tracks have really caught my fancy.
