Szigeti/Menges/LSO  Brahms Violin Concerto 1959 recording

Skilfully played but it's analytical, cold and has a dry balance. This is a rare mono Mercury recording that has not been reissued in CD till recently.

Very angular style of playing with very little legato or any kind of romantic notions in that it is hard to make an emotional connection.

John Lennon. Remember. On the Hear Music CD from 2006. Lennon's solo music always had a thick and heavy production style to begin with, so to me this compilation doesn't really suffer from its loudness mastering. Rather, I really like the choice of its 18 tracks and their non-chronological ordering. It has a good pace and distribution, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking a go-to Lennon compilation.

Jimi Hendrix. South Saturn Delta (1997). On the Experience Hendrix/Lagacy CD from 2011. My first listen and not being a Hendrix aficionado this comes off as a hodge-podge collection of tracks. Still, some great licks and musical drive to be appreciated.

During workout a great album of civilized jazz

Also during the workout, this has even some pieces which go into the direction of easy listening, but still a good album...

(1990)

Recently added and getting a lot of playing here. It was labelled as her "comeback album" but the overall sound was "modernised" and of its time being influenced by the Pet Shop Boys, its very listenable and I have been enjoying it on and off for a while now.

Two GREAT voices together on one LP (with Bobbie in particularly fine form). All covers apart from two Campbell originals and Bobbie's "Morning Glory". This is a 1968 Capitol Canada first pressing.  No real reason apart from I so enjoyed listening to BG yesterday, I thought I'd repeat today:

Music recorded in 1968 as a soundtrack for the film of the same name which was never released until 2005. A really good 'lost tape.

Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways

I wish it would - and leave a sunny bank holiday Monday for a change

From the 2014 mono LP box. Isn't Macca's bass playing on "Taxman" awesome?

(2012)

Django Django's excellent self titled debut album.

"This is a great debut album, which comes across as a more commercial, funked-up Beta Band high on indie grooves. It's quite an achievement for any band to release a 12 track album with no filler or lulls, but these boys have done it. The vocal arrangements are done to perfection, and the whole thing a wondrous journey of psychedelic inventiveness." - An Amazonian

Metallica (The Black Album) on original 1991 CD. Their best selling album but not the best IMO as I prefer the older thrasheier!? work. Having said that there is some really good music here.

A tonic for the miserable Bank Holiday weather. An exceptionally good album for both music and reproduction quality.
