Nice polished jazz

Boccherini's dance music sounds rather modern and swinging. The execution of Jordi savall's group is exemplary.

Takes me right back to my student days.  Very much of the era but well crafted.

Some old and classic Tull to start the evening's listening.  Some great songs on here: Bouree, of course, and especially Look Into The Sun.

What a debut album this was?! The self-confidence of the band must have been huge.  The middle part of You Shook Me must have given the record company execs palpitations.

This is an excellent album. As the title suggests, it combines overtures and arias, which makes for a very nice balance.

In The Air Tonight sounds particularly good this evening.

"Eight years ago we started; they were very young, 16. I had a gig with some rhythm section and they called to say they can't do this, so what can I do? They recommend this young guy, a drummer, and he recommended to me the bass player and the pianist and we have half hour beforehand to make program and they do it without any experience! They already had individuality; they were good from the beginning. I think it is the way with musicians-if there's promise you're going to hear it immediately." (Tomasz Stanko)

He is still defining modern jazz. This guy is awesome. The album is now more a collection of songs - the last album was a connected collection. But nevertheless a lot to explore and to start appreciating outside the ones which immediately connect to my taste...
