It's back to the 80s. We didn't have 24 bit downloads then. It's good to get a decent album from the band.
Chaconnes & Songs: Olga Georgievskaya
Just arrived, in the post. On the CDX2 right now.
Extra- ordinary.... Better than the Genesis originals.....? Quite possibly.
Why did I hesitate to buy this...? Have order the first Genesis Revisited CD immediately, on the strength of the first track of this one.
Enjoy... Thank you, Steve....
You may want to check out the live version Genesis Revisited: Live at Hammersmith as well. I saw the show in Paradiso earlier in the tour and the DVD that is included in the live cd box set gives a good impression of the live performance
No need to - have already YouTubed some of his GR live stuff - and I am going to actually see him live, next week.... !!!
[This will be my third prog rock concert in a row... Rick Wakeman, King Crimson - and next Steve Hackett...... ]
A recent purchase CD rip to AIFF:-
Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
I really like Harry Allen's sax playing, and this newish record with the excellent Jan Lundgren is excellent. It's straight jazz done really well, great playing and recording too.

Also - Kevin, Daan, & midweek Jamie,
Thanks for posting about this album. Have been thinking of getting this, on the fence no more.

Hi Tony,
Not familiar with Alexis Korner at all. Track list looks interesting. What do you think of this album? Good starting point or do you recommend another?
Thanks!

Watkins Family Hour (2015) CD
This album developed out of monthly shows the band had been doing in Los Angeles. A sampling from a NPR tiny desk episode. http://www.npr.org/event/music...oncert?autoplay=true
Getting a few plays since I got it Tuesday. Last album Friday night, first today. Really like it.

Great record

It’s not what dying does
I always liked it slow
Slow is in my blood"
Beirut - No No No

First listen. So far, so good.
Listened to this during my workout. He is again defining a new road in jazz. It's not as good as his former album, but still on a very high level...
Listened also to this in my workout, a weak album..

Mehldau = overrated
I actually think that one is one of his least annoying.

I don't agree f.i. Ode, Where do You start and Live in Marciac are belong to the top 10 jazz albums of the year. This album is just not good.

Taming the Dragon is ok, but this is better.

Thanks to Gian for mentioning this artist.

I place those albums in the same category as Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert. It's on a lot of top ten lists and used to be on mine but my tastes have shifted and I just don't enjoy the genre as much as I used to. Actually I now wonder how I managed to listen to all that meandering piano.

Ok wverybody is entitled to have an opinion about music. My appreciation hasn't changed, also had the great joy of hearing ode live in Frankfurt. I by the way recognize in general shifting interests. It also happened to me.
1st run...
1st run...
Ps this is what I had besides Keith Jarrett - this noisy behavior of the guys while they play music. It just destroys the pleasure on the music. Amazed that they didn't address that during the recording sessions. I have also heard it in a Peterson recording.
Nice rounded sound of the drums....
