American woman...momma let me be-heeee!
The Byrds Greatest Hits (1967). On Columbia CD, with bonus tracks, from 1999. One of my favorites on vinyl back in the day, just not hitting the mark with me tonight. The Rickenbackers sound somehow overly crisp or bright.
This is one CharlieP brought for the Seattle Naim meetup...went back to my secret vinyl spot and there it was!
A great album. Too bad David Clayton-Thomas died so young.
You inspire me to enjoy the whole album through...

David Clayton-Thomas is still very much with us:

No Doubt. Tragic Kingdom. On CD from 1995. Great tracks top to bottom. Tight and lively sound, and Gwen Stefani has a gift for delivering ska-punk vocals with a sultry passion.

I have this vinyl, it does miss the mark compared to other stuff but still enjoyable...older stuff just seems to sound brighter to me.

Forgive us Americans...we suck at Geography.
Fast Times as Ridgemont High...red bathing suit scene.

That is good news. Thanks for setting me straight.
One of my only brand new vinyl...wasn't crazy about it at first. Each time I listen to it I like it a bit more.
I'd say I've played it maybe 5 times now, and I look forward to putting it on. Some things don't get better every time you listen to them, but this one seems to so far.
Not kidding, but while typing this my wife just said: I love this music. haha!

Music Matters' 33 rpm Cool Struttin' is the best I have heard so far.
This is one of my favourite.

A re-recorded and re-worked version by the band of this classic album originally issued in 1975. Less orchestration and slightly more rock orientated this new version does credit to the album and the piece as a whole.

I have always felt PH were underrated during their prime early years, this great album is another example of just that.
Seems a RUSH sort of day (ie anyday), CD rips to AIFF:-
Signals
Grace Under Pressure.
Now some thing different:-
Runrig - Stamping Ground
On CD:-
A comparison of Warner's most recent (24/96) mastering of this famous performance, with EMI's 1986 remastering - I no longer own the dreadful GROC issue - shows the new mastering has superior definition, detail and sound stage, with low tape noise, and only minor digital artifacting (noticeable on the violin section). The older remastering does sound ever so slightly more natural (maybe familiarity on my side), but also more clouded in the tutti. Worth the update even in redbook.
Cheers,
EJ

I'm guessing that a Blue Note original is pretty costly... So go with the Music Matters. Similar in "cool factor" to Kind of Blue -- really nicely redone by MM.
