To be honest I am only just getting in to Rush. This for me is the first album by them. Really enjoying what I am hearing at the moment though
Ian.
I never really got into Rush, but I have enjoyed and would recommend 'Permanent Waves', 'A Farewell to Kings', 'Moving Pictures' and 'Hemispheres'. I tried to get into '2112', but failed. Maybe Geddy Lee's voice is a bit too 'unique' for my ears.
I have all of their albums, apart from the very recent, on vinyl in the loft. Can't bear the thought of getting rid and if I ever decide to buy a turntable, mainly because it would look nice on my rack, I'll have something great to play

Yes the vocals are certainly different, but I quite like that. Thanks for the tips, I will check those out.

Odd, 2112 is my favorite! I like albums that are an entire story instead of individuals song.
i've always felt that they are a difficult group to try by picking a random album because there is so much variation from one to another - easy to like one and loath another. I've been obsessed with them since I was fourteen and even I dislike the latest album which everyone else loves.

The Cure. Disintegration. Original CD from 1989. Another one of my wife's CDs I was fully expecting to place on the discard pile, I found something beguiling about the sound. Dark, eerie, and maybe even oppressive music, it strikes a mood. I'll keep this for a second listen before casting judgment.
Disintegration is probably The Cure fan's favourite, personally I prefer the poppier albums of Kiss Me Kiss Me and (loathed by many Cure fans) Wish.
First spin following Kuma's recommendation. This is one of these awkward situations where shipping ($4) cost three times the price of the disc ($1.36).
Great album, the title is descriptive...
Bert,
I have plenty of Bollani's recordings but for some reason this one hasn't worked for me.
Led Zep II, what an utterly awesome album this is and brilliant guitar and base work. 24 bit flac via audirvana/hugo
dayjay you shouldn't bass your opinions on it.
Tower of Power: Back to Oakland 1974 release
With the best original cast, the king of white funk with killer brass section from the 70s. Original Warner US pressing sounds great. It covers from high energy hit tune such as 'Squib Cake' as well as gorgeous power ballad with strings.
Listen to their spot on timing!
Pollini: Schumann Fantasie in C Major 1973 release
Revisiting this early recording. Curious to hear how he does it 42 years later this Sunday at the Orchestra Hall.

Early Tangerine Dream forming part of the Tangerine Tree project. As the liner notes say this volume features 79 minutes of unreleased soundtrack material from the 1983 movie. Its my first listen to it and the early stages feature very strong soundscapes.
Pink Floyd. Animals (1977). On Capitol remaster CD from 1992. Underappreciated by me, liking it more and more lately. Pigs (Three Different Ones) is my favorite track. How many other Floyd songs have got cowbell?
Why? Because it is the fabulous Harry Nilsson..
CD
Intense account of the string quartets..

That's strange, besides Gleda it's my favorite..., perhaps you have to give it a couple of additional spins.

Roger Chapman's voice was perhaps one of the most distinctive voices around at that time, or indeed any time! Great debut album.
