Mozart's piano music includes a few pearls among a rather large body of trivialities (IMO). On this disc, the latter is represented by the KV 613 variations "Ein Weib ist das herrlichste Ding". Equally, the unfinished KV 396 fantasy is nothing special. The standout work, on the other hand, is the F sonata (KV 332), and Bezuidenhout fully grasps its opportunities and presents a vital account.
Performances are up to the usual high standard, but musically not the strongest disc in Bezuidenhout's survey of the complete Mozart.
Cheers

As ever, wonderful musicianship from HS and the early 16th century compositions by 'il divino' are a delight.
'Francesco Canona or Canova was born near Milan in 1497 and died in 1543. It was his place of birth rather than his family name which was almost exclusively used when referring to him during his professional life. He was the personal lutenist in Rome to Cardinal Ippolito de Medici and to Popes Leo X (1513-1521), Clement VII (1523-34), and Paul III (1534-1549). Francesco's first printed works date from 1536. In that year, three publications appeared, two of which were devoted only to works by Francesco. The third was an anthology in which his music can be found alongside anonymous dances and pieces by his contemporaries. The works which have survived are of two types, Fantasias or Recercars, and vocal works, of which there are two in this program. Several anonymous dances also appear in this selection which are taken from Castigliono's book of 1536. Also included is one dance by their contemporary, Alberto da Mantova, who is also represented in the 1536 book and who was lutenist to François I in France where he was know as Albert de Rippe.'
SACD rip converted to DSF. Another great sounding recording from Water Lily Acoustics.
One of the best recordings for Schubert's last piano sonata - D.960
Perahia’s soft playing makes it sounds so humanity.

A Tale of Unease as it's title suggests has some dark, menacing passages of music that could well be used as a movie soundscape. Good Berlin School electronica.

"This is the analogue counterpart to Aphelion, which was recorded using mainly digital instruments. This nicely showcases the two sides to Arcane's superb Tangerine Dream inspired music. I really can't decide which I prefer: digital Arcane or analogue Arcane as they both hit the musical sweet spot." ~ A Bandcamper

Fractures by The Clouds are Ghosts (2014)
Very slick light rock described by themselves as electro-acoustic. Catchy without being cheesy or too poppy and very well played. The vocalist in particular is brilliant. But they are all very accomplished. Regardless the music is brilliant so give it a try. - Russell commenting on Bandcamp

Just the job to go with a stiff Gin and Tonic or two whilst thinking what to have for dinner.
Superb hi-octane, Goa influenced trance workout! Searing arpeggios over brutal beats and low-end basslines, all complemented with excellent production and unusual twists. I found the BPM changes among the tracks particularly cool. If I had to give it a one line review: "It made me want to lose myself all over again in a sea of mental ravers!" - An Amazonian
Good stuff Steve. I've got this one on order as you know replacing some previously pinched vinyl.
This is a particular favourite of mine Steve.

More of Simon Posford's wonderful psytrance music while I wait for a curry to be delivered from the most excellent Sampan.
This Amazonian sums upTwisted quite nicely:
I'm not going to engage in an avalanche of hippy waffle to describe this music. I don't even take drugs to er...enhance the experience. Having said that this release is legendary.
Classic goose bump inducing trance that is composed in an intelligent and inspiring way. There are no "fillers" on this release ...it's just blissfully heavy and melodic and bizarre and and and utterly tremendous. Where's the best place to play this? At home? No, the neighbours will worry about the demolition of their walls. At a party? Well, if you can find a good one these days good luck to you.
I play this every day on a crowded tube train in Taiwan..."
Mumford & Sons "Wilder Mind".
A much more polished effort than their two previous albums. This is folk music disguised as pop music! I miss the ramshackle sound and I most certainly miss the banjo. It's a nice album though and I like it!
