It had been quite a while between albums when Bob Seger eventually released this one, he went for it without the Silver Bullet Band and to be honest it surprise me that they were not really missed. Great American rock in the style you would expect to hear from the man who knows how to do it really very well.

Beirut - No No No

(2015) CD

New release.  What struck me immediately is the music is not as layered (for him) as the earlier albums.  Beginning to to appreciate it more after  few listens.

Sony also have been working to established in the classical music arena ever since bought the rights to the Columbia catalogue.

Hope they are at least launching a new site for classical music.

I thought Kaufmann was with Sony label.

Did he switch?

btw, do you  have any Falstaff you can recommend?

Timber Timbre  - Timber Timbre

(2009)  CD

Having first heard of this band with the 2014 album 'Hot Dreams', I decided to check out earlier albums.  This is the 2009 debut.

The album cover feels a bit Halloween like.

First listen.  Bluesy guitar and organ.

Kaufmann is with Sony but EMI borrowed him before, for their Butterfly with Gheorghiu.

For Falstaff, I'd start with Giulini's 1980 recording, taped live in L.A. with Renato Bruson and Leo Nucci on great form. From there, you may go back in time to Karajan's classic with Gobbi and Schwarzkopf, or forward to Abbado with Terfel and Hampson.
