A rockin' blues album.

These guys (now called Wild Ponies) are great, if you like new country. We saw them play in Emsworth last year; there must have been no more than 20 of us, and it was a great night. They are lovely people, and well worth checking out.

The delta blues band - A new leaf

Posted on: 11 October 2015 by Bert Schurink

This music is new to me, needs a couple of runs more - looks like less good than his earlier albums....

Lateron 1st run of this one, quite different from the first album..., not a bad thing..

I know the Goldbergs and Diabellis well, but the Rzewski is new to me too. I really like it, just give it time. It's at least as good as the two previous albums.

This is wonderful, straight jazz well played.

This the 24/96 2006 remaster - a classic

A classic 60/70's band - saw them live more times than I can remember,

..........   not that I could remember much in those days

Haim, have a look at Nigel North's Bach on the Lute 4cd set on Linn, I think you'll like it.

Thanks.

I have two discs of Nigel North playing Dowland. The Eguez recordings of Bach (volumes 1 & 2) are quite exquisite in terms of playing and sound so I am not rushing to get another version:

This contains mega hit 'I Just Wanna Stop'. Look at these crazed groupie mob and his Vivaldi hair!

I've a feeling most of his constituents were women. ( also all the used records I bought often have female names written on them )

Like in the song's lyrics I happen to live in Montréal.

The French people here have an expression for guys with big hair and hairy chests who hit on any/every woman they come across. That expression is ''c'est un Gino'' (he's a Gino). I guess by now you've figured out were that expression originated from.

(2014) CD

Found this when looking through Eilen Jewell's catalog.  First listen.  So far, so good.  Mix of bluegrass, folk, gospel, and whatnot.

Heh Only in Canada.

I have read that he was originally from Montreal. He's actually a serious artist who has tried many directions during his career, but he'll be most remembered for 'I Just Wanna Stop' and his big hair.

Lush Life: Coltrane 1961 release

Analogue Productions Mono LP reissue (2014) vs. DCC Mono CD (1996)

This is one of those rare instance that I prefer CD remaster over the vinyl. Both were said to be sourced from the original analogue master. CD is mastered by Steve Hofmann, vinyl is Kevin Gray. Perspective is much more up close with CD digging out more inner details and better dynamics than the record played on the office LP12.

Tonality is exactly the same between the two as well as high hiss tape background noise and muted piano.
