It's nice to hear he's still composing altho, I would love it if he was to do his *nostalgic* tour and play some numbers from his Blue Note era. Perez is an excellent piano player and Patitucci is a pro.

I am not at all familiar with what he's doing lately either as last CD I got was from the 90s ( 1+1 with Hancock ) after Seak No Evil. ( nearly 30 years gap )

You'll enjoy Unity and it seems everyone's fafourite. Another gorgeous release along with it is Jackie McLean's Right Now!

I wish they'd redo Night Dreamer in 33RPM. The title tune is my favourite of Shorter. All original. No covers with young Mccoy Tyner's opulent piano.

I see what you mean by a system sounding a bit lacklustre, after a wonderful, especially an acoustic concert.

Just no way to reproduce the real life scale and dynamics of full orchestra and chorus. I don't even think there is a technology to record it.

A simple trio or solo might have a chance, tho.

Kuma,

I'd love to explore some of his 1960s stuff - JuJu, Night Dreamer, etc. - but every time I've searched on eBay, prices have been ridiculous. I'm very keen to hear the MM Speak No Evil. I've become very sceptical of reissues - I'd say 4 out of 5 have been disappointing, mostly because of a certain polished-but-boring sound - but I've heard nothing but good about this latest MM series.

Thanks for the Jackie McLean recommendation. I went through a phase of exploring his stuff a few years ago, mostly in other groups (Grachan Moncur III, et al). He's one of many artists I first discovered in the obituary column

All the best,

Colm

Classy, well written and well produced easy listening.

"This, the eponymous debut album from the former Fleetwood Mac roadie, took the Grammys by storm in 1980, winning awards for Best Album, Best Song and Best Record for the US chart-topping "Sailing", and won Cross the coveted Best New Artist award as well.

It oozes sheer adult-oriented radio class throughout, doubtless helped by ex-Doobie Brother Michael McDonald and Eagles' Don Henley and John David Souther helping out on backing vocals, amongst other luminaries from the 1980's session musician school, who turned up "just to play on the album"... - An Amazonian

Another Page was his follow up to his debut album albeit four years later. Once again major artists join him here, Michael McDonald ('Doobies), Don Henley and David Souther (Eagles) again and Carl Wilson, Art Garfunkel, Karla Bonoff.

Linn records 45rpm Supercut.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has this as I have had two copies and both have quite bad surface noise.  Shame because the SQ is fantastic!

From one of my favourite Nick Cave albums, and not to be played with children around.

Mine is "on the way" and currently bouncing around or getting crushed in some courier plane or delivery truck.  Hopefully I'll have mine in a few days and will report back.

I haven't heard any other work by JG so it sit alone to me. Quite good, a bit like some Beck tracks at times. I'll listen to other JG albums on Tidal in due course.

....and now

It's always good to come back and listen to her voice and lyrics, this is one of my favourites from her.
