Thanks for the Jackie McLean recommendation. I went through a phase of exploring his stuff a few years ago, mostly in other groups (Grachan Moncur III, et al). He's one of many artists I first discovered in the obituary column

Speak No Evil is on its way along with Freddie Hubbard's Hub-tones.

With Music Matters 33s reissue no need to spend $$$ on the original reissues.

I see what you mean by most reissue disappointing especially on classical titles.

MM's mastering and sound quality vary by the condition of tape as well as how Rudy recorded them and probably sound different from the original pressing but I sure like their mastering decisions.

Polished and boing they aren't. Dynamic and kicking yes.

I now know that I stay away from certain reissue labels.

I think that McLean did the best work at Blue Note pre new management

Another good band "discovered" in the Bandcamp shop window, a mix of electronica, Krautrock and prog' rock, all very enjoyable and well put together.

"Cosmos is a powerful work of eerie, relentless rhythms and futuristic score that shares as much headspace with the late-night sci-fi explorer as the space rock adventurer." ~ Bandcamp

On work PC at the moment...

Unmistakeable guitar but the vocals really sound like they're coming from a seventy year old - very thin and weak.

Maybe it'll grow on me.

This was a fantastic debut album from the Brit' prog' rockers. Reminiscent of Dream Theater but they added to the DT sound with their own. Very impressive and any of the band's albums will reward listening to those that like all the prog' favourites, DT, Floyd, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, 'Purple and so on...

Their latest and best release to date, I am pretty sure that they have a new one due out this year although I can't find any info' about that at the moment.

I bought this back in January this year and unfortunately I was a little underwhelmed by it. As a long time admirer of all their previous albums up to and including Air Cut in '73, I had hoped that they might just have recaptured something of their excellent earlier albums from over forty years ago. Giving it another go if only to be fair to Sonja Kristina (Linwood) ...

Adolf Busch is mostly known as violinist and leader of the Busch Quartet, but he was a good composer, as well. Seemingly traditional, too - the works on this disc (all composed in the 1920s and 30s) appear to be high romantic without an apparent trace of modernism - but the booklet does an excellent job pointing out the sophistications and modern touches.

Cheers,
