I agree,  I find I am much more open minded now I am older, back in my youth I was very narrow minded in my musical taste.  I see the pattern repeating itself with my sons, despite my efforts to give them a broad musical education, across all genres.

Great album, by the way,  that I was enjoying at the time.

St Anthony: An Ode to Anthony H Wilson by Joe Duddell and Mike Garry, on 12" vinyl. A poem set to music (in this case New Order's Your Silent Face, rearranged for synth and violins). The music is wonderful, the words heartfelt and sometimes clever, although Garry's Manc accent grates a bit (although I am a Cockernee, would say that wouldn't I?).

Am listening because I was with a load of old music hacks the other night, swapping war stories, and the subject of Mr Wilson came up.

Bowie: Crystal Japan/Alabama Song on 7" Japanese vinyl. A beautiful little thing - someone else was playing it on this thread last week, thought I should drag it out.

A blast of the Stooges on vinyl before heading out to the pub before the WHU/Chelsea game:

Van Zweden's Bruckner 8 is a grower - the initial movements are somewhat conventional, but what Van Zweden and the Dutch radio troops get out of IV. is quite simply out of this world. High-res was invented for this - I'm listening to 24/96 but it's available in DSD256 for those of us with the capability and wallet to do it justice.

A collection of Chung's favorite piano pieces dedicated to his sons and grandchildren played with a warm and gentle touch.

Although late onto the British Blues scene this album is a fine album of that genre.

Sometimes, it just has to be Zappa. One Size Fits All, is an all thriller, no filler album. You will either love it, or hate it. Percussion is very muscular, and incredibly musical to chromatic, in places. My arms are aching, just listening to it. CD rip via jriver.

Tried to get hold of "Harry Belafonte Live at Carnegie Hall today, but couldn't find it. So I bought "The Best of Harry Belafonte" instead.
