Howard's 'Yes' post has reminded me to remind you foks that Steven Wilson's new remaster of 'Fragile' is released on 6th November.

My order is in with Burning Shed who's price was better than The Big River Shop, the last time I looked.

John.

Cool.  Thanks for the tip, John!

Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds

Mine is not this remastered version.  Purchased the CD in the late '80s.  I really like this album, and from the PF in my collection this is second to 'Wish You Were Here' as a favorite.

A great little 25 minute EP this, well worth a listen as is their full album Half Life.  Glorious female fronted Goth Psychedelia.

A stunning album, and well recorded, too. Played in 24/96.

Not on of their best albums, but still happy I finally decided to get it in high res..

And directly after Levit - while the family is out halloweening - the new record from Alina Ibragimova. Rather than add the concerto for two violins or the one for violin and oboe (which she recorded for Bis), she adds transcriptions of what we now know best as harpsichord concertos. Ibragimova, in period instrument outfit -  is predictably excellent, playing with a wide range of colours (Hyperion's recording is amazing), but Arcangelo's very lively way with these works is certainly its own attraction.

On vinyl, 5 hours of solo Mehldau compiled from European shows over the last 10 years. Rather good.

I like a comment I saw in a review of this album; "Too weird for folkies and too folky for wierdos". It describes it well but I like it.

One of favourite Seal albums.  I particularly like the two versions of You Get Me.

After her overtly emotional reading of Elgar's concerto and symphonic approach to Dvorak, I was prepared for a big, extrovert, reading of Rachmaninov's elegiac masterpiece. But this is a surprisingly intimate, subtle reading - with excellent feel for the ebb and flow and long build to to the work's climaxes (when both Weilerstein and Barnaton let loose). The Chopin is for another day.

Cheers,

EJ

I'll join with some Seal MDS a nice way to finish off the evening.

Not a very PC name for a band these days but the music is great. Some good psych tracks, especially 'Walk on water'.

(2012)   2CD.   Disc 1 at the moment.

Got to see the band for the first time a few weeks ago at the American Roots Festival tour.  Very good!  Would definitely like to see them again.

This should keep those little pluckers away from my front door tonight....

As should this. Nothing like a bit of the mighty Gristle's "Slug Bait" and "Maggot Death" to repel candy-crazed brats and their pushy parents...

Opeth - Deliverance and Damnation remixed by Steven Wilson (Damnation) and Bruce Soord. Very impressed by how this is sounding....
