(2014)

Another unexpected band with another unexpected sound. Dream the electric sheep is a hybrid kind of prog music. It combines progressive rock with typical british indie (but it's a pure american product!) - A Bandcamper

Kuma, Jarrett's WTC is a valid viewpoint and there is not anything necessarily wrong with it.  For me personally, it leaves me cold and therefore, I do not find it very compelling.

I'd not visited the Nonesuch site previously. I've picked up this (above), a Brad Mehdhau Live box-set and the surely different Shye Ben Tzur/Jonny Greenwood Indian recording. My credit card may continue to suffer.....

Rather good, isn't it? I like her distinctive voice, but perhaps just one album at a time.

Doug,

The only Jarrett doing classical music disc I consider good is the Handel suites.

First listen.

The mighty N. Order, Music Complete, Super Deluxe vinyl version - main LP on double clear vinyl. Spiffing.

Sorry, can't post album cover artwork on iPad: Van Morrison and the Chieftains "Irish Heartbeat" on the black stuff. Van at his best - seriously emotional stuff.

A wonderful album.

"Tokyo Adagio is a posthumous release, but one that Charlie Haden ardently desired prior to his passing in July 2014. The album marks the pinnacle of the American bassist’s collaborations with Gonzalo Rubalcaba, the pianist of genius he first encountered in Cuba in 1986, and with whom Charlie immediately developed a bond bordering on the telepathic."

(2014, Keyhole, digitally remastered)

Hot Tuna - Live at the Fillmore West, 3 July 1971

2CD

First listen.  A friend mentions Hot Tuna to me often, and I missed seeing Jorma Kaukonen for the first time locally this past year.  So thought I would finally give the band a try, and decided to start with a live album.

This was taped on the final Saturday night at the Fillmore West.  I probably picked this based on the Grateful Dead albums that I have from the Fillmore West.  I also have Fillmore West albums from Aretha Franklin, Muddy Waters, and maybe a few other artists.

Not what I was expecting, but quite good so far (only on track 3, Candy Man) .  Very folky with jamming.

Had an E.S.T. afternoon when driving back home. The first one is a great quiet one, with more traditional type of trio jazz which is very well played....

Posted on: 08 November 2015 by Bert Schurink

Highly recommended release a lot of energy, a mix of more old style trio and already new type of music...

Recorded at Studio 301 in Sydney, the week they were in town for some shows. Saw and met them in Parramatta that week and they were on wonderful form (as always).

Just so happens I am playing this right now on vinyl

Currently in my new music pile waiting for its debut so I'm keen to hear what you think?

You will like it Gordon, very mellow. A lot to take in being a double.

Posted on: 08 November 2015 by hungryhalibut

It's in two parts, reflecting the original CDs. I think it's best digested that way, rather than trying to swallow it whole.

That with Vatacium, and Live in Hamburg are my favorites...
