From the album cover art, I was expecting some cheezy 80s synth. pop but not at all. Many tunes are hugely gospel influenced with powerful voice of Patti Labelle, the album is filled with funky power ballad in  a striding tempo.

Ends with a tune called 'American Dream' with the voice clip from Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speech under over Womack's soulful voice.

now that's Bobby Womack

and anything from American Studios when he was helping Chips Moman

One of my favourite artists who, I had the pleasure of meeting after one of his gigs in the 70's. If you like this one try the album before The Poet which contains one of my all time fav Womack songs "If you think your'e lonely now", it is a fabulous album.

Very much agree. I'm hoping she'll be performing some of this album when I see her at the Royal Festival Hall tomorrow evening.

One of the best 'difficult second albums' out there.

Totally Graeme, and one of my fave rock albums ever, I've skipped III and moved onto Led Zepellin IV which is also excellent in its own way.  24 bit flac via audirvana/hugo

This Album just gets better every time. Well worth a listen.

The on to this. I had played this to death when it was release. Very much enjoying it tonight.

On vinyl. Classic Records pressing.

Music of Chen Peixun, Maurice Ravel, Sergei Rachmaninov and Tan Dun. Playing as well as sound are outstanding. So far, it is my clear choice for 2015's best.

Glenn Gould : Goldberg Variations 1955 version  Mono

Blazing fast and absolutely exhilarating. He’s completely giddy. Each note so clear it's refreshing.

It's perhaps a spoon-fed rhythmic structure, in that he shows a tremendous technical skills but can sound a tad monotonous and/or have me twitching from all that nervous energy.

Scarlatti-ish Bach.

The '81 sets shows more contemplative maturity.
