Harnoncourt/Concertus Musicus Wien : Handel Messiah  2005 Recording

Rhythmic and light overall refreshing and springy. Chorus also is light weight but bouncy. Contrasting to Boult’s narrative approach, this has more *churchy* feel. Harnoncourt adds sudden stops and wide dynamic contrast to keep the excitement and jovial moods through the piece but very little take away much like a vegetarian dinner.

Brandi Carlile. The Firewatcher's Daughter. On CD from 2015. Preparing food with my wife on the eve of Thanksgiving. She's brought in several CDs that typically reside in her car.  My listening room opens into the kitchen, the fan is on the stove, so the music is being played loud. Very good album.

Adele. 25. My wife's latest CD. My first time listening to an Adele CD and if I have any say over it, my last. A lovely, controlled, powerful voice and I can appreciate her talent, but it gets long fast.

Zero 7 : When it Falls 2004 Release

For low energy down tempo tunes like these I prefer French band Air. ( altho, I have stopped following them after the Pocket Symphony ) I picked this vinyl up when it came out as everyone I knew was talking about them. As Snow Patrol, Elbow, Boards of Canada, Portishead etc.. etc.. Air and Hooverphonic were the only ones that sort of stuck on my radar. Altho, both bands lost the charm they had in their earlier release.

I posted my photo from the Seattle Times who report no download available.

According to the article Adele, Taylor Swift and Beyonce are among the few artists in todays market able to demand initial physical media releases. Smart timing with the holiday buying spree that occurs immediately after Thanksgiving here in the US. She'll also be appearing on Saturday Night Live this week. The article goes on to say that official downloads may become available after a window of time. Perhaps when the pirating market threatens to supplant sales. Still, this looks to be a huge seller as it appeals to a wide demographic.

No Doubt. Rock Steady. On CD from 2001. Funky with a heavy beat, lots of energy and a touch of rap. Good music for cleaning up in anticipation of Thursday's Thanksgiving feast.

(1999)

Been a fan of Ian Boddy's electronic ambient music whether solo or in collaboration for quite a while but had not come across this one before.

"Markus Reuter is a member of the eclectic Europa String Choir. Playing 8 string touch guitar Reuter, bends notes and blends tones with Ian Boddys sublime atmospherics

I've been listening to the final mix of the Distant Rituals CD by Ian and Markus. I'm struck by the depth and beauty of the music. There's a real warmth to the overall sound and the mixture of Markus' Warr guitar and Ian's electronics work together in all sorts of unexpected ways"... - Bandcamp Comment

Strong rhythm base under an as usual great trumpet sound. I have to say in all honestly that I like his earlier work a bit more as it's find a balance between lyrical and strong rhythm based pieces. Not to say it's a bad album, it's still quite good.....

(2008)

This self-titled album is a sort of dark ambient, prog rock mix, reminiscent of some Porcupine Tree, Riverside and even DT.
