Good time 70s soul

Gould/Bernstein: Beethoven Piano Concerto No.3 1959 recording  Mono

Bold, dynamic and gutsy orchestra intro. Gould enters with excellent flair and poise cutting through Lenny's heavy handed orchestration. Piano melody is clear as a bell and Gould does not skip a beat. It has a springy youthful outlook contrasting to Schnabel's old fashion filigrees. Gould puts in his own take on the cadenza as usual.

Wow.  Sounds excellent.  Maybe I will find a copy over here.

From the other side of 70s...a lot of country guitar on this one.

Paul Badura-Skoda/Scherchen/Vienna State Opera Orchestra: Beethoven Piano Concerto No.3  1958 Recording Mono

Forceful piano intro but due to clangy & nasaly tone it's comical rather than making a bold entrance. Quick footed over all and good exchange between the orchestra and piano. Excellent articulation and clarity of notes and generally lively disposition makes this an exciting set. Orchestration never overpower the pianist working closely with the soloist.

Badura-Skoda was Edwin's Fischer's student plays no excessive flash and keeping it real yet exciting and thoughtful. Here Fischer teaching whilst shaggy haired  young Paul looks on.

Really getting into this band (Lunatic Soul), so much good music, so many themes going on. All four of their albums into a checkout basket.

Thanks for that.... on spotify at the moment. Album ordered. :-)

Crosby, Stills & Nash. On original vinyl from 1969. I've listened to this so many times and tonight it struck me just how much "Lady Of The Island" sounds like a Simon & Garfunkel track.

Still listening to this for the first time but I am pretty sure it will be saved as a favourite on my Tidal album listing. Talented Lady.

We saw her live earlier this year. One of the best concerts I've ever been too. She's just brilliant.

That is so weird, I have just seen your post and guess what album I am listening to?

I would love to see this lady live, she is such a talent and this is the first time I have come across her.

Anno Domini High Definition  ~ Riverside

I am struggling to remember why I ignored this band when they first emerged. Making up for lost time now.
