Wispelwey and Giacometti continuing their collaboration on EPR ("Evil Penguin Records"). This starts with a spectacular performance of the great fantasy in C, which they recorded for Onyx earlier - but Giacometti played a fortepiano then, and this time a grand, and it makes the performance better IMO. Sound that's as good as it has ever been.

Unfortunately I agree with that.

Perhaps we need a new topic called 'what are are you listening to, and why others should avoid it'.

This isn't one to avoid. £3.99 well spent.

Indeed. Someone who got better as they got older, unlike ex members of Pink Floyd, who seem to trot out anything that makes money, regardless of quality.

As much as I can face after a very boisterous wedding party into the wee small hours...ouch!

Jeff's still got it! Some wonderful tunes on this album, including the title track.

Jeff who andarkian? I'm afraid your pic isn't showing.

Smashing Pumpkins, Adore on CD. I found this little beauty at the Stables, Milton Keynes in their second hand music store.

Earlier today ...

Grateful Dead - Houston, Texas November 18, 1972

HDCD, 2014

First listen.  A very interesting, not quite 26 minute long, 'Playing In The Band'.  Pretty cool.

Familiar set list for the time - I don't know how many live albums I have with 'Bertha' - but it's done well, and the recording is very good.

Keith and Donna Godchaux, with Donna singing very nicely.  No unnecessary howling.

Now:

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

CD, Deluxe edition, 2015

Disc 1

Never had any previous copies of this album.  My brother had a cassette tape of it back in the day.  He was a BIG Led Zep fan; me not so much.  Likely a combination of playing the trombone in primary school and I can't possibly like any of the music my brother likes.

I was listening to U2, Talking Heads, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Who and others at the time. I didn't understand why he was into such bands like Led Zep, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen.  Bah!  I've come around on the first two.  Aerosmith and VH have never done it for me.

Very cool to hear this again.  Haven't listened to the companion disc yet.
