Kubelik/Symphonie-Orchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks: Mahler Sym.1  1967 Recording

Lively & down to earth first half but it can't carry over the excitement through the back half and somehow ending up like a cardboard character.

A lot going for this but no as good as I expect it to be.

Did you get your Gould's '81 Goldberg Variations?

if so how is your copy compared to Tharaud's in terms of production?

Unfortunately I agree with that.

I think it's a great album. I received RTL vinyl and On An Island remastered vinyl the same week. OAI was a new listen for me and I've found both albums on par with each other. In fact, I've given RTL more listens. I'm a guy that makes concessions for vocals from aging classic rockers; my aging ears are sympathetic. RTL got a positive affirmation from my wife, who typically doesn't offer feedback on what's coming out of my listening room.

Pretenders. On original vinyl from 1980. Chrissie Hynde seemed to sweeten and refine her vocals over time, these from the debut album gritty with a raw impact. Good stuff.

Knew you'd like it!

Let me point you to Darlingside 'Birds Say'. Very Fleet Foxes, with a bit of quirky humour too.

"It is good to have all these Mudarra pieces under one roof - early music "pluckers" will be familiar with them, but for those who are not this is one of the first ever printed collections of music for the vihuela, one of the forerunners of the guitar, dating from 1546." - Amazonian comment

What happened to my picture? I took a screen grab from my ipad and used copy and paste to insert into the reply box.  This was my first attempt to show an image of what was playing and it appeared just fine yesterday.  I notice a few others have had similar problems but others ie HH show ok.  Any tips on this as frequently asked questions does not seem to provide an answer?

Hi TOBYJUG. Yes that is the album cover but my original image was a direct screen grab from my ipad of the now playing track from that album.

Pixies, after you have taken your screen grab and saved it to somewhere like your desktop you then need to upload it to something like Photobucket (PB) which is free to use but you do need to register first to use it. Then upload it to your PB library. Once saved in the PB library then click on that new library image (your previously taken screen grab) and then click to "copy image address". This "copied image address" is the one that you need to insert and to paste into these posts via the Insert/Edit Image icon (above).

Thanks Stevee_S.  Yes I am familiar with that image posting technique and have used it many times.  I was just trying another method to get an instant picture of what I was listening to and thus avoid the upload and save to photobucket palaver. Oh well I won't try that again!

Thanks

If you are in the mood for a bit of an emotional roller-coaster ride, this post rock album could fit the bill. Too much screaming for my taste, or maybe I'm just not in the right mood for it...
