Bruce Springsteen. The River. Original vinyl from 1980. Thought I'd give this a listen with the new box set being released in two days. Have yet to see the related HBO documentary that premiered last Friday.

Pierre Monteux/LSO : Sibelius Symphony No.2   1958 Recording

Much better structured and rhythmically astute than Ormandy set.

Montuex’s handling always has a ballet like a lyrical sense of rhthym. Expansive and proud happy 1st movement. Monteux gives much needed scale and larger than life presence.

Kenneth Wilkinson engineered early stereo sounds fabulous even on this later London STS reissue.

Red Hot Chili Peppers. Stadium Arcadium. On CD from 2006. John Frusciante's superb guitar stylings never fail to impress - the glue that binds this fantastic double album.

Had this playing in the car for a while so its time to play it on a better system. Not one of his best albums but still very good to listen to.

Just had a morning listening to this...

...followed by this...

...Impressed with Gilles Peterson volumes 1 and 2.

Every time I hear track 3 of vol. 2 I go and scan around for an original copy of the Paul Gonsalves Quartet's Boom-Jackie-Boom-Chick.  I'm not sure I'd ever be able to afford copy if I found one (unless it was at the charity shop) but it's nice to have the title track on this superb compilation of rare British Jazz.

This is just great - if you happen to like accordion, which luckily I do.

The Boatman's call is probably mine, along with the wonderful Murder Ballads. I've got a few of his albums.
