Soothing and calm, just what the doctor ordered after cutting down all morning fallen trees in the snow.

Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus was his best IMO - great album!

The Boatman's call is probably mine, along with the wonderful Murder Ballads. I've got a few of his albums.

Boatman Call for me as well

Sorry, I missed your post Mike.

This is part of a trilogy: Discipline(81), Beat(82) and Three of a Perfect Pair(84). All three albums  are quite similar and as far as some tracks are quite "pop-like" due to their frenetic electronic-dancing beats experimentation  but distinctively KC. I quite like the album but of the three I very much prefer Beat which I find more like the KC I am used to from ITOKC to Lizard era. The critics would say otherwise, but who listens to them?

Your a star, Tony.  My small KC collection is pretty conventional eg from the Lizard era you mention.  Until I looked on Amazon to research the albums you've referred to I hadn't appreciated how many they have produced. Anyway, I've take a punt and ordered the whole trilogy. Thanks again.

My first Waterboys album which I bought because the cover looked so good. I struck gold! That was in 1990.

A technically proficient, popular but ultimately rather superficial performance of what may be Bach's best instrumental works. When she was younger, Mullova recorded some of these works with Bruno Canino on piano - she was wonderfully distant and aloof in those earlier recordings, ice queen indeed.

His latest recording and among his best.

Finishing off the evening with this one. I like their style, mixing electronica with the spoken word, in this instance actual audio clips from the news relating to the "space race" telling the story through those years.

... followed by one of this incredibly good, persuasive performance.

Beethoven, Moonlight Sonata, to be followed by Fur Elise.  I don't listen to classical music and know nothing about it but these two pieces are nothing short of sublime.  Flac via audirvana/hugo
