An assortment of Bach works, played on marimba. Not just for novelty value, this is great late-night music.

I have always had a soft spot for Curved Air (that continues), they had a unique and individual sound even back in the heydays of prog rock.

Hmm. That's interesting, Steve. I don't think I've listened to any Curved Air since I bought their 'picture' LP, which was a novelty back in those days.  Must correct that and get a CD or two.

A while since I've played this. My goodness, it's good. Hauntingly holographic imaging too.

Great album, but especially for lovers of the bass....

Ooh, that looks good. But Qobuz won't let me download it in the uk. Shame.

Now it's December, I can play this! It's the first of four albums, all of which are terrific, and not remotely cheesy.

Good but not great album...

Pink Floyd. Animals. On original vinyl from 1977. Floyd plays exceptionally well late on a Friday night .

Barbirolli/Halle: Sibelius Symphony No.2 1966 Recording

Grown up and sophisticated, JB builds the story one note at a time.

Expansive and imposing the music sounds like a cold gust of wind blowing over the tundra. On balance maintaining rather cool stance throughout rock solid determination is felt but a bit more fire would have been nice.

Kites are FUN.

New England folksinger singing salt of the earth stories.  Great stuff.  Sadly passed away in 2011.

Stone Temple Pilots. Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop. On CD from 1996.

Mike, if you are going to pick up a couple of CDs then I would go for their first two albums (as a preference) from 1970 & '71 Air Conditioning & Curved Air Second Album which are easy enough to get hold of down at the river. But if you still have their 1st album the 'picture' LP then go for any of their 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums, which include Phantasmagoria and Air Cut, I wouldn't chase anything after 1976. For me, those first four albums give the "real" CA sound .

Their first album from 1971 with their trademark complimentary twin lead guitar sound.

I am new to this artist. I like the first three quarter of the album, the last quarter is in my eyes not so strong...

I am happy to have his full collection on DG excluding the opera recordings, it's always at a great standard level...

Released today, more pulp sci-fi inspired ambient electronica. Cousin Silas always manages to capture the imagination with his cinematic style soundscapes.

Did you get your Gould's '81 Goldberg Variations?

if so how is your copy compared to Tharaud's in terms of production?

Kuma, it has been about a week now and I also didn't compare one after the other but production wise I would tend to go with the Gould.
