Loving this. More great stuff from Jonny, who is creating quite a palmares with his non_radiohead adventures.

Beth in fine form. She's become a firm favourite. Wonderful in concert, too.

(1971)

I have always had a soft spot for Curved Air (that continues), they had a unique and individual sound even back in the heydays of prog rock.

Hmm. That's interesting, Steve. I don't think I've listened to any Curved Air since I bought their 'picture' LP, which was a novelty back in those days.  Must correct that and get a CD or two.

Mike

Mike, if you are going to pick up a couple of CDs then I would go for their first two albums (as a preference) from 1970 & '71 Air Conditioning & Curved Air Second Album which are easy enough to get hold of down at the river. But if you still have their 1st album the 'picture' LP then go for any of their 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums, which include Phantasmagoria and Air Cut, I wouldn't chase anything after 1976. For me, those first four albums give the "real" CA sound .

Steve

Thanks for the tip, Steve. I'll explore that.

Latest CD from BBC Music magazine, very nice, performed by the Queens Six

Some might think me a bit mean but I think this is pretty much Paul McC's best piece of work post-Beatles.

You might also want to try a later version of Melinda (more or less) from Phantasmagoria on Sonja Kristina's solo album Songs from the Acid Folk.

Todays listening

An artist that is new to me but not to some others on here.  Early impressions are mainly positive but the re-production quality of this CD is a bit flat and lifeless.

Quite liked his first couple fo albums, long since deleted but for me he still hasn't made that wow album that he is capable of. The Live album gives you as close a hint of what he is capable of.

Fancied something with a bit of oomph.  Evanescence ticks the box.

Thanks ewemon.  Have just had a quick look for that album on Am***n and there are quite a few CD versions of his live album.  Any steer as to which one sounds best?

On CD. Title track is my favourite from 2015 and the rest of the album ani't too shabby. Pity SQ is so compressed (brickwalled)
