The only version conducted by Gorecki himself. In memory one of my brothers who lost his fight for life this morning.

Du PrĂ©/Barenboim: Haydn Cello Concerto No.1 & 2.  1967 Recording

Much better than her later live Elgar Cello Concerto recording.

First time listening to the C Major Cello Concert. Surprising to find out so much like Mozart! ( or Mozart took a lot from his teacher! )

No.2 is more complex and less Mozart like.

Condolences ewemon - having lost a brother of my own I know it is a very difficult thing to deal with.

I hope all is as well as can be expected given the circumstances.

Beck. Morning Phase. On vinyl from 2014

The Cars. Candy-O. On original vinyl from 1979. From my high school years, energetic new wave/synth-pop with powerful percussion, a fast, punchy sound and an iconic album cover. A worthy successor to their brilliant debut album.

Blackfield IV. CD rip to NAS.

Okay I admit I've previously posted saying how rubbish this album is..  I was wrong! A few plays later and my opinions completely changed. It's up there with Blackfield I and II as one of the best albums I've discovered in the last 12 month. I should know by now that a really good album takes several plays to gel. In fact sometimes the more work you have to put into understanding an album the better it ultimately turns out to be.

Excellent prog with a bit of pop chucked in. Steven Wilson at his best :-)

Listening to Images du Temps from Orchestre D'Harmonie De La Region Centre...

Was not the type of music I was looking for, while not bad in it's own kind (talking about my post before). So now switched to something much more enjoyable. Javier Perianes Granados and Turina Piano Quintets, sounds so good that I will put it on my buying list...

Happy Songs For Happy People, rather perversely named given it's melancholy nature. Once again more captivating avant-garde rock and electronica from Mowai.

A delightful album with quite a lot of varying sounds and rhythms going on, the vocals from both are excellent, Robert Plant showing great delicacy and restraint where required.
