Regrettably, it took me until this year to "discover" Alison Krauss. Whether solo or with the added instruments and voices of Union Station she is just great to listen to, possessing a wonderful voice.
I only discovered her thanks to Plant's collaboration, Steve. No regrets for not having listened to her before that. Maybe, just maybe that's how it was meant to be. You were probably busy listening to something else equally good or better. All in good time, young man!
Me too. I would probably never have listened to Ms Krauss solely on the basis of the genre of her music but having heard her in conjunction with the Led Zep man I have been bewitched by her spell!

Bert - this is sounding very nice through Tidal - I'll definitely be coming back to this one. Good recommendation (as usual) thanks !

I bought a collection of approx. 1,500 CD's today, by coincidence this is the only one I've yet listened too.
I've a few of her CD's and heard quite a few tracks on Radio Paradise, it was a smart move recording an album Plant, but IMO Plant drags her down a bit. Much prefer her with Union Station.
Streaming via Deezer Elite - beautiful, hypnotic, polyrhythmic...wow!
Toscanini/NBC: Beethoven Symphony No.6 1952 recording
It's been years I listened to the Pastoral. It's not my favourite Beethoven Symphony probably because of over exposure over the years plus it's strictly a tone poem with very visual and nothing else. ( sort of boring to me )
This Toscanini set remains as my favourite as its saturated colours and rhythmic drive give it a fresh outlook.
Asia. Eponymous debut on vinyl from 1982. Not sure why, but I don't hear these songs anymore on radio, etc. Unlike so much of the synthesizer driven pop of the era, Asia had a more developed, sophisticated, and progressive sound. Quite a talented line up.
ELP. Brain Salad Surgery. On the group's Manticore label vinyl from 1973. Feeling in a progressive mood tonight.
On vinyl.

Yep, that's a good one.
Munch/BSO: Beethoven Symphony No. 7 1949 Recording Mono
Rewind the clock a few years back from Toscanini, this 66 year old mono recording sounds remarkably good. Albeit no warmth of Carnegie Hall.
From the start it does not have the dashing intensity of Toscanini set. Lofty and expansive but tight leashed it isn't and missing here also is a sense of playfulness. ( tune like this really needs it ) Exciting back half, whilst done all in a good taste, it’s somewhat boring and come off generic.
That said, this is a very nice natural sounding disc and I could well imagine a middle class family in 1950, enjoying this record at home in one of these brand new RCA Victrola playing this 'Long Playing' record.
Kansas. Leftoverture. On the original Kirshner label vinyl from 1976. Continuing the progressive rock theme.
Styx. The Grand Illusion. On original vinyl from 1977. Onward with my progressive rock listening this evening. I enjoy the rock side of Styx, can do without their love ballads, and this is a good album for that.
During workout, a very fine jazz album

A well remastered 1995 version of the original.
Not my type of music - but part of Decca the Analogue Years...

Yes, like it. But the "Black Pudding" recording is better.

Prompted and intrigued seeing this being played here I have just listened to CD1 of 2 and it's very enjoyable.
Streamed via Qobuz
A bit 'mainstream' but I'm in the mood and it sounds so damn good!
