Beck "Morning Phase"

Matthias Eick again a great album, lyrical and not as a lot of the other trumpet players...

On my way to the Netherlands listened to the Miles Davis Bootleg Nr 2 series, I don't know what I have been drinking while buying this - the sound quality is not great, so at some point in time pulled the cd out of the sleeve.

No with the relevant artwork..

Last one I listened to on the road, quite a lot of variation, not the typical jazz album..

I was very disappointed in the reproduction quality of that album when compared to his previous albums. What do you make of it, Jeff?

Hi Mike

I did not care for it initially but continued to go back to it and now enjoy quite a lot.  Definitely different to his previous releases, but that is okay with me.  Nice to see an artist step out of his (and potentially his audience) comfort zone.  I hope he doesn't abandon his past though as those would still be further up my list of preferences.  If you still have it give it at least 5-7 tries if you haven't already.  (BTW, if you are referring to SQ, I am not the one to ask, but I find nothing wrong with it streaming from Spotify)

regards, Jeff A

Eagles. Hotel California. On original vinyl from 1976. Just enjoyed this with my son who is home from college.

Its the two songs you can't get elsewhere. No Leaf Clover was my favourite for a long time.

Ripped the DVD to WAV and sounds great.

Fleetwood Mac. Rumours. On original vinyl from 1977. Albums from the mid-late 1970's seem to sound especially nice on my system. Something about my cart/stylus and pressings from that time combines for a magical output.

My first recording of the Dutch Jussen brothers, playing Mozart concertos nos 7 & 10 with no one less than Neville Marriner in front of his old orchestra supporting them. Among Mozart's early concertos, these aren't at the level of nr 9 (K271 "Jeunehomme") but especially K365 is rather good - full of opportunities for the pianists to shine together. The performances are lyrical, intimate, and natural.
