Fish, A Feast of Consequences, the best album of its year by far in my view and a bit of a triumph for our Derick.  Decent tour too both for this and earlier this year for the Farewell to Childhood tour.  Flac via audirvana/Hugo, and excellent SQ it is too

(2012)

In the mood for  a little more Calexico, this one in their more recent style which is less spaghetti western.

Jethro Tull - Benefit

RUSH - Signals

Ben Harper - Diamonds On The Inside

There is something about Calexico's vocals that have always slightly reminded me of Chris Isaak's earlier albums. So playing this compilation album of his earlier works. It's a nice album in it's own right but it also takes me back to having this CD in Mexico and having a great 5/6 weeks leave there a couple of decades or so ago...

Eva Cassidy - Nightbird on Vinyl. Never heard the Blues Alley release on vinyl, only CD, and wondered how good it would have been on vinyl, as such this was the album I received for Xmas that I was most eager to hear.  Half way through side 2 and so far proving excellent, although they seem to have removed some of the atmosphere by removing some of the audience applause.

Having listened to Seal new album last night I thought I'd give another of his albums a play this evening. Slower in style to his earlier albums and very enjoyable. Seal can do ballads alright.

Thin Lizzy, Jailbreak. Just back from my friend's 40th birthday party which was great because there were five or six people there who could play guitar, bass and drums so we had a good accoustic jam which was brilliant so some classic rock music to keep the mood going.  Flac via audirvana/Hugo

Tidal - exploring some of his stuff prior to purchase.

Sounds like a great party.

It was great Nigel, my friend plays bass in a group (it was his wife's birthday), his brother in law plays drums in the same group and had one of those box drum things, and his son plays guitar, and to top it all a guest is a pro female singer, was really lovely to be there, especially as we were all a bit tipsy and singing along.  I love music in the stadiums and on my hifi but real people playing right in front of you is hard to beat

I know what you mean. My son plays bass, and to hear them playing makes you realise that no Hifi can be any more than a pale imitation of the real thing.

just been playing a 180g virgin vinyl from original master -- whatever that means, and it doesnt sound anywhere as good as the original one i boight when i was at uni a loooong time ago, even after all that "student abuse". Arghhh ... what a waste of money -- i might have been fooled by the hype and i quite like this album anyhow. ah well...

enjoy

Totally, which is why it's worth taking the time to try and see artists in local venues when the chance is there.  A real pleasure, as you will know with a gigging musician in the family.  No hifi can match that
