Charles Lloyd tenor saxophone, Tibetan Oboe
Bobo Stenson piano
Anders Jormin double-bass
Billy Hart drums

Released in 1996 and still remains my favorite Lloyd.
On vinyl.
St. Vincent on vinyl.
A studio recording from 1978 when Horn re-launched her singing career after taking time to raise her daughter.
Paul McCartney. Driving Rain. On CD from 2001. A lengthy album with 16 tracks, 14 of them recorded during just two weeks in the studio; a testament to McCartney's productive abilities. As a McCartney devotee I find it quite enjoyable with several gems, though I expect casual listeners might differ.
Tackling Strauss' songs.
Karg's voice is more silvery than golden. I am more at ease with her piano player.
Better controll through the frequency range than von Otter.
Just bought the complete boxset (release 2014, 6 CDs in 88.2/24 highres) for just €21 at highresaudio.
I had just the one volume 2 before and is just so relaxing.

I have this one already much longer - I remember it was a steal don't remember if it was 21 euros. But I think so..., always have the feeling that into the first number this thing comes to steam. Some of the sound is a bit different in the first song.
Remembered this album in a different way - less strong..., interesting hearing session
Had this one on yesterday evening before I went to bed. This has a very rich rendering of the piano sound. One of the solo jazz albums I hear more often...
The Band. Greatest Hits. On CD from 2000. Enjoying this one again as from a few nights ago. Suspect I may have to find some vinyl albums from The Band to add to my collection. Caught up in the funk.
Jarrett decided to hand his saxophone to someone else. A smart move for everyone.

£17.00 in the UK. FLAC 88.2Khz. If that is not a bargain I don't know what is. I thought the single albums on Qobuz, £6.47, where a good price until now.

Homework music...FLAC Qobuz stream. They have a great Dead library.

Graeme,
last year i purchased the Dick's Picks vol.4 vinyl box-set 6 x LPs.
I tried very hard to dig the 1970 live recordings but unfortunately the vinyl quality was a huge letdown.
A very compressed poor SQ on warp-crappy awful pressings, surface noise, pops, clicks etc.
And the vinyls are not really proper LPs in the true sense meaning of Long Player; too many have only 10 little minutes or so of recorded music per side and LP6 has a blank B side : <
Shockingly poor value for money when you consider the Dead's vinyl is often very expensive priced.
[and a complete rip off in this case].
How well does the digital source is hold up...?
It's fab music imo but we deserve to hear it and enjoy with-out compromise : )
Debs
I was interested in the comments on this, esp the vinyl. I was never really tempted by the vinyl because of the difficulty they had (which Debs refers to) in trying to make the LP turn overs match the music which flows on from song to song. There were also questions about the source, but it is very disappointing to read about poor pressings. For what it's worth, do note that this is not a GD production (their vinyl is usually produced by Rhino) but licensed. I have the original CDs and I think they are pretty good like most of the various GD CD issues of live material.
Two From the Vault, just issued on vinyl by Light in the Attic, is also licensed, but this is a good pressing, although also expensive. The problem with these issues is that they are not released in Europe so there's always significant import duty as well as shipping costs to cover. I was listening to it earlier on and the music from 1968 is fantastic:
I only have the CD version but I am now tempted to get a recent Dead release on vinyl. This came out for RSD in November and is from Houston Texas in 1972. I have bought earlier GD RSD vinyl releases and the quality is very high.
This alone makes £20 a month for lossless FLAC seem good value.

Prices of GD vinyl is scandalous : (
Deadhead vinyl completists must have very large mortgages.
Thanks for the reports on Houston Texas 1972, i was wondering about that one.
Also the 'Two From the Vault' set is very tempting, already have 'One From the Vault' 3 x LP set which is the most sublime dead music pressed on the most perfect vinyl, and beautifully presented in triple gate sleeve, very highly recommended!
Giving it a spin now...
I have had One from the Vault on CD since it came out and it is marvellous. Now I have heard the second one on vinyl, getting One is a new temptation! The cheapest I could find Two from the Vault was from the German source of the rain forest.

Air ~ 10000 Hz Legend (2001)
Still working through my LP collection on my RCM. Haven't played this one for ages, but it is definitely one of my favourites from them:
On vinyl from 1973: Wishbone Ash - "Wishbone Four"
followed by:
Vinyl from 1973: Dobie Gray - "Drift Away"
A surprisingly good al round album, even if the title track is obviously the standout.
Followed by an album I picked up recently by an artist who is often decried nowadays, but whose early works in particular I now love.
On vinyl from 1973: Donovan - "Essence to Essence"
A real 'Feel Good' album for early morning or late evening listening.
A few more LPs through the washing/playing/rediscovering cycle before switching back to local digital streaming:
Vinyl from 1972: Uriah Heep - "Wizards"
Still like this more than I had expected, despite the slight background crackling that the RCN can't completely eliminate. Followed by:
On vinyl from 1972: Thijs Van Leer - "Introspection"
Very different to, and much less exuberant than his stuff with Focus. But all the better for that!
then on vinyl from 1984: Sir Douglas Quintet - " Rio Medina"
Just 'fun' music from a band I really like.

Stuart McCallum ~ Distilled (2011)
Downloaded a few years ago from the Naim Jazz label and rarely listened to. I should play it more as its really rather good, not too "jazzy".
Doesn't need a recommendation .....
Sarah McLachlan
"Mirrorball" (1999) SP
On vinyl, just cleaned, no need for the new re-issue then.
RUSH - Fly By Night

The Doors ~ The Soft Parade (1969)
From the Complete Doors Studio Albums (Édition Studio Masters) released by Qobuz in 2014. Great sound quality in 24/96 and amazingly still available there at under £24 for the eight albums. Excellent value when buying the albums singly costs £15.
Amon Düül II - Live In London (1973)
Recorded at The Greyhound, Croydon in December '72
Original vinyl
The vinyl comes with an mp3 download.
Looking forward to the new 'ESKA' album end of April on the Naim Edge label.
On CD:-
The Decemberists - Castaways And Cutouts
