Gerry Mulligan and the Concert Jazz Band At The Village Vanguard

Poll Winners Records 27292

Of all the recordings made by Gerry Mulligan's Concert Jazz Band in the 1960s, this is arguably the definitive one. But on this CD release, also included, is the album “Presents A Concert In Jazz”, featuring his Concert Jazz Band recorded in a pair of 1961 studio sessions.

Recommended to lovers of modern, large group, jazz.

Excellent recording and transfers for the period.

Enjoy

I'm envious now. Two for one is a kind of lust thing.....

Having to make do with Radio Paradise via a smart phone connection through a MacBook whilst we wait for a power cut to end!

Which is annoying as I have just bought the new Embrace album and Kate Bush, Director's Cut, on vinyl waiting to be cleaned and enjoyed!

When I ordered the CD, used from that South American river site, I thought I was just going to get the Village Vanguard session so it was a very pleasant surprise to find the additional tracks which are equally as good.

This new album has been listened to at least once a day for the last week.

A great session of jazz piano and double bass, by two great dutch jazz musicians.

First listen.

A couple of weeks ago, whilst in the middle of a Who fest, I played this on vinyl:

It took me back to some special moments in the mid-80's and I found myself enjoying it so much that I ordered the remastered and extended version on CD:

The sound is SO much better on the CD (ripped to NS01 and streamed through NDS, of course). A really enjoyable album.
