Regrets...

"On July 16, 1999 at Les Deux Magots cafe, by Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris, my magazine editor wife recognised the world's most famous portrait photographer, Annie Leibovitz at the next table to us. Of course, after gushing our admiration in an unseemly manner for 30 seconds, we left her alone. But, instead of that, why didn't we feign complete ignorance of who she was, hand over equivalent of a brownie Box, and ask her to take a shot of us?
"Just press that little button up the top, on the right, could ya, love?
"And can ya get us both in, with sort of, the croissants in the frame, too?
Nuh. Only thought of that plan afterwards. Merde!"
This isn't mine, but from Peter Fitzimons, an ex-rugby playing now media commentator. I thought it brilliant.
Anyone have any regrets they'd like to share?

I was just reminiscing tonight with friends about being at the bar in the 'French House' pub in London with my best mate when Robert Plant and Jimmy Page came in together and stood right beside us, chatting for some time. It must have been 1991 or 2.
My friends thought it a shame that we had no record but for me luckily it was in the days before mobile phones and 'selfies', and so it remains etched in my memory.

I've had a few, but then again......
It was Christmas day in 1984, I was working at a world famous children's hospital in Birmingham, UK. It was early afternoon and word was out that there were a few special visitors doing the rounds on the wards. Some time later, after freeing myself from my duties I followed up the latest gossip regarding said visitors, only to find I'd missed the chance to meet Bev Bevan (ELO) some of the members of UB40 and my idol, one Robert Plant! Gutted wasn't a common expletive in those days but......
A couple of years ago Robert Plant was performing in Wellington. We flew up for the show and on arriving in town headed to the local second hand record store for a fossic. Who should be there but the man himself doing a little shopping. We nervously asked for an autograph and when we presented a ticket to his show to be signed he was very gracious and chatted for several minutes.
when we went to pay for our items Robert was about to have his photo taken with the manager and he kindly offered us one too.
So now on the sideboard there is a photo of Lesley with Robert (and a bigger smile than our wedding photo beside it)
no regrets

I used to drink in the same pub as Dennis Waterman. He was often in there, propping up the bar, but I never once spoke to him. To the best of my knowledge, neither did anyone else.

I would regret that as well.
Robert is a popular chap. I too had the good fortune to bump into him in Bristol. I was making my way to the Hi Show being held in I think the Marriott Hotel. This was about 1995. Who should pull up in a taxi but the aforementioned gentleman. Immaculately dressed and quite tall. I just did not have the bottle to ask him for his autograph or to tell him how brilliant Led Zep were at Earls Court in '76.

Steve2,
You should have told him how brilliant Led Zepp were at Earls Court in 76.
Would loved to have heard his reply?

I think they were much better in '75. Mainly because that's when they played the concerts in question.
The passage of time has affected my memory. Sorry about that. I still have the program and my ticket somewhere along with all my other memorabilia.
