Desktop client

I have a few questions about Naim desktop Client.

I have not yet found a way to tag or rename my Music files With DC. Having tried through mr pc and on my Ipad With n-serve.

Is there a way to tag and add cover art With Naim apps\programs or do I have to go through my pc

You can edit metadata and add art with the DTC and nServe only for files ripped by a Naim server (UnitiServe; HDX).  It will not edit data for files ripped otherwise (including files in the Downloads folder of a Naim server).

What server are you using?

I am using Naim all the way so to speak.(unitiserve 2TB)

I do think I understand now, as my music har been ripped on my pc then transferd to the unitiserve.

Which means that I still have to use my pc for adding missing info?

Yes that's right -- must use your pc to edit the metadata for files not ripped by the uServe.

If you still have problems editing metadata, it might be easier to rip the CDs again on the Unitiserve, then edit in n-Stream, which is very quick and easy. Assuming you still have the CDs, of course!

I have about 1500 CDs that I have ripped over time on my pc. Just do not want to use the time to do it again on the unitiserve. I use mediamonkey on my pc and the metadata followed over to my US. Only a few mistakes that had to be  seen too.

Another thing that I had to  change was the name of my album art scans/downloads. Not thinking ahead I just called them different names like" zxcv" or "asdf" etc. just to have differnt names when scanning them on my pc.Now I have gone through my collection and renamed all coverart "folder".

Now I can sit back and listen to music. Naim have managed to make a great hardware\software setup.

I have unitiqute 2, uniyiserve and and nap100 all controlled my my ipad..

I agree with your approach lobo.  Even when the Naim streamer rips a cd, I sometimes want to 'tweak' the metadata; I don't always agree with everything the online database provides.  Doing it on the computer has many advantages as you've seen.  One change I like to make is turning a 4-cd set into one big album. I do this with most of my live Grateful Dead cd sets, otherwise they take up too much landscape on the display of the control apps.  Just my preference.

Bart.

Can I ask what software you use for tagging on your pc?

How to you make 4 CDs into 1cd, so to speak? Do you name them the same?

What about track numbers?
