My Time Capsule seems to break my home network

I've been having home wired ethernet glitches for a while now. The buffer on my music players (NDS; Qute2), both connected by ethernet cable to my Netgear GS116 switch, will randomly empty and the music pauses. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes the player ends up in STOPPED mode.
My network, briefly: Home isp router (Actiontec from Verizon FiOS) does dhcp duty but wifi is off. It's connected to the 16 port switch, as is everything else. uServe, NDS, Qute, Synology nas, Apple TV, and Time Capsule. The Time Capsule does wifi duty in bridge mode. Downstairs is an Airport Extreme that is used to extend the wifi network. I great great wifi speed throughout my home this way; 80 M down no matter where I sit.
Through process of elimination, I've figured out that when I disconnect the Time Capsule from the network, the glitches don't happen. I can use the home router for wifi, and it's fine (except that speed and coverage suffer; I need a better wifi solution). I even moved my Airport Extreme in to replace the Time Capsule - things seem fine. Something about that Time Capsule seems to cause the glitches. (And it's not Time Machine running on a Mac; I've checked.)
Any ideas? Has anyone else had problems with a Time Capsule like this? I will do a full factory reset on it and see if that makes a difference.
