Hi folks,

Anyone tried the LAN Isolator for the streaming system? Could you kindly share your experience?

Not worthwhile for me, I tried it between NDX and switch, and felt it actually made things worse.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your information, are you install the isolator on the switch side and the brand name also is Acoustic Revive ?

What made you felt worse after use it ?

Cheers,

Hi, simply the audio from the NDX sounded less enjoyable. Whether there is strange loading and consequential crosstalk occurring, I can only guess. I know the NDX is not in sensitive to cross talk noise.

Yes it was the Japanese Acoustic Revive product. I tried both at the switch end and the NDX. I currently use the Revive remotely between Pi and switch. I perceive a possible minute advantage, but I suspect it wouldn't stand up to a A/B test..

I tried one borrowed from a mate over the holidays who rates it on his Linn system.   I heard a small difference,  but better or worse I was not sure.  I concluded it was not worth the money.

That said I have heard a positive change on his Linn with it connected, but it is part of a home & business network that includes a small office with about 5 PC stations, routers & NAS.  I believe it might be the noise from this network that gives the isolator something to work with whereas my simple home system is comparatively quiet so the isolator doesn't have much to do.

If all you need to do is to break an earth loop in shielded Ethernet cables, then just use a UTP coupler between two cables.  Much simpler and much cheaper.

I have one and use it to good effect; I heard a positive difference straight off.
I'm using it between the switch and my NDS and am using cat 6 shielded cable.
All the best.

It appears that this company has attempted to convey the effect via a Youtube video.  Given how effective such a demonstration is, you have to wonder why more manufactures don't do this.  Surely if everyone could hear the benefit of a Naim system freely over the internet before buying, they would see a huge uplift in sales, particularly with something like a Muso.  Wouldn't they?

I'm curious, what would an ethernet cable earth loop sound like exactly?

I have an initial GS108 after the modem for other home network connections, from that AQ cinnamon > another GS108 > AQ cinnamon x2 > NAS/UQ. Should I insert a UTP in there somewhere? Which would be the best place?

Hi Mike-B,

As your said, the product benefit was depended how many noise on the network enviroment, right?

And do you know this product can isolate what freq range noise ?

Hi Sbilotta,

Are you connect it on your network switch first and then connect the straight cable to streamer and could you kindly explain more what improved after use it ?

Yes, probably, but I can't back that up with facts/data

No,  if you want that info you need to do the research.

The isolator is at the end of the lan cable (coming out of the switch) and is connected directly to the NDS.

The major benefits are in the mid to high frequencies and as we often say here, a veil is lifted ...

All the best.
