Streamer updater

Hello,
In Dec-14 the update streamer was release.
I have a few questions please:
Is this update refer to all NDS units? or from which serial number?
what it's all about? I'd like to read reports please.
I guess anyone (after reading the instructions carefully) can do that.
Any professional experience/ recommendations?
