Android app bugs

Posted by: Solid Air on 27 January 2015

Not sure if this is covered elsewhere. I have an iPad and a iPhone and also an Android phone (I know, I know). The Naim app is very good on the IOS devices and I enjoy using it. That's most of the time, so this isn't a major problem for me. However, the Android version seems much more buggy.

The device is a Sony Xperia M2 and it's running Android 4.4.4 (kitkat). The kit is a NAC 172xs running the latest firmware.

None of these things happen on the IOS version, which I think is very good. Using it on Android, even occasionally, is a less pleasant experience.

I know it not really "on subject" because you were highlighting the shortfalls of the Naim App for Android . However , another option could be something like " Bubble UPNP " from the Android store . Like you I use both platforms and even though it is not a solution the app works very well and instantly recognised my NAS and streamed to my Qute 2 .

Hope this helps .

  • It also seems to struggle to rescan after something's been added - eg a new album - and won't accept it's there until I reset the app.
  • The 'back' button seems to return to the home screen by default, rather than going back one step in the hierarchy.

+1

I have these same issues using Android 5 on a Nexus. It's not the end of the world, but annoying nonetheless.
