Tidal/Wimp sold to Jay Z!

Board has acccepeted so it would appear to be a done deal.
It's a temporary glitch. Apple is sitting on a $178 billion pile of cash...
I have no idea whether this acquisition by Mr Carter is good news or bad or what it might mean for the future direction of Tidal.. It'll be interesting to watch.. I can't see Tidal becoming a rapping specialist service...
Perhaps not, Simon - but it hardly encourages me to see Tidal as a serious competitor to Qobuz for classical listeners.
One more reason not to ho with them

That's quite enough of that hip hop street slang talk...

I tried Quobus. It is monstrously bad. Indexing makes the whole experience a nonsense.
When you can narrow the field enough it would work - probably - but try Klemperer, Mozart Don Giovanni. You get three recordings out of order and jumbled for playing order. Dreadful, and fundamentally incompetent. Okay, that they delved deep into a massive repertoire, but that does not mean it is worthy ...
Must try harder ...

Has it occurred to you that many of us are reporting far more successful experiences with Qobuz, and that it's just possible that sone of the problems you've had are a variety of user error? I'm not saying that the user interface is perfect, mind, just that most of us seem to be able to cope with it. And we don't get stuff playing in the wrong order.
I downloaded the "player" and carried on. It is total crap to put it ultra-politely, and understate the case in true English Style. The user interface is more than slightly not intuitive. Only a computer geek would understand what to do next ...
I intend to warn every potential user that is it is far worse than utter crap, To say it politely.

Sorry Mr Goon, I'm with George on this one, the Quboz interface is atrocious! Sure, you can eventually work out how to navigate what you want to get to, but why should you have to put up with such a user-unfriendly experience?
Really not acceptable in this day and age.
To add:
I remember a time when you could easily wind the gramophone and put on the first side of a great recorded performance, and play it in order ...
That was long after LPs were introduced, long before CDs, and then iTunes allowed you to play a whole three hour piece of music properly and also of course gapless, and in the right order ....
And then came Quobus! A joke in the stream of progress.
Okay for Fur Elise, but forget Don Givanni.

Not your cup of tea then George.
I must admit, and being computer literate also, that I find Qobuz utterly baffling, it follows no known conventions of order and IMHO quite chaotic to use.
But others seem to love it, hey ho.
Quobus wanted me to pay for it!
If it was workable, given the superb repertoire, I would happily have done so ...
They need to try harder.

George clearly had issues with Qobuz computer interface in December, I think the new interfaces and non computer interfaces are quite improved and searching is quick and getting more accurate.. However it's the collections of classical music that Qobuz has that appears to be best out there according to a few reviews, and I wouldn't argue. At Qobuz's massive rate of growth currently, I guess a fair view of using it successfully, but they have published their roadmap of how they wish to develop and improve things further....
i use Qobuz via the very un 'computer' like interface used in Sonos ( and in the Qobuz iPad app) and it's a dream to use.. I work with computers, and prefer not to want to deal with them when listening to music.

Even the name sounds camp. My user experience with it is utterly dreadful even though I know my way around and can do anything on it with ease. It's just rubbish to say the least.
Dear Simon,
If Quobus can make their user interface as good as iTunes, then I'll be back instantly. I rely on you reporting that it is in a new thread, if that is not to big an ask.
The repertoire in classical music is - even for me - to die for.
I find HMV in London a place I can visit without a purchase, because it is far from as grand as it was in the 1980s. I hope for something special, and Quobus offers something more than special from the repertoire angle. I hope their act is sorted out in time. If they get it right there is a big market from computer numpties who simply love music, and want to try out a huge number of great recordings ...

I have to say that I find Qobuz's various interfaces somewhat clunky. I use it via a Sonos which makes things much smoother imo.

Sorry no ho ... go
@Stephen Tate - I'm not sure either why the word Qobuz might be considered camp, nor why that would seem to be an implied insult.
In general, Mr Carter has quite a few business interests and this is a sensible addition for him I would say. There's no reason to think it will affect the music selection negatively. For a business in a somewhat shaky growth phase, being owned by a rich investor isn't a bad option.
I said it sounds camp not IS camp and therefore is not an insult at all, just humour, obviously not...
I still stand by my opinion that Qobuz is not a clued up experience in the same way as Spotify and others are.
Although the Qobuz sound quality is good, better than Spotify,I find the depth of classical recordings to be way inferior to Spotify. My experience of buying and downloading music from Qobuz has been terrible. I tried to buy a set with a large number of individual tracks, but when I downloaded the zip file, I was unable to open it. Technical support, whilst quick and friendly, didn't understand the problem and when it did, couldn't offer a solution which worked. I got a refund. Qobuz has a long way to go before I will use it again.
George, will do.. But I don't always find itunes easy to navigate and have mostly given up with it.... However for Qobuz via Sonos or the iPad app seems to just work well for me. But the challenges might be with the browser apps.. I don't know I am afraid as I don't use them.
However the good thing with the proliferation of new streaming services there should be something for everyone... Not everyone has to use the same app or service. It is just as well, as I gave up with the Spotify app the other day.. It was just too confusing and inaccessible for me... No problem via Sonos however.. I think these interfaces must be very individualistic. It must also show the benefit of using software developed by University of Cambridge as with Sonos.

I find Qobuz absolutely fine but detest Itunes - there is no "right" judgement, just personal preference which will naturally vary between people.
I tried to buy a set with a large number of individual tracks, but when I downloaded the zip file, I was unable to open it.
I am also experiencing similar issues. Downloading a 63 track triple disc album yesterday resulted in a zip file that couldn't be opened. Have just successfully downloaded the album track by track.....it worked but was v. tedious!
Have to say though, I'm impressed with breadth of Qobuz (not sure why some folks are struggling with spelling of Qobuz?), and given inferior catalogue of HDTracks.com (coupled with strong $), have stopped purchasing albums from them (for now).
Optimistic for the future though, because as the song says, 'things can only get better'......

Hi GeeJay- my set ordered was for two large sets, each including some 200 tracks! I did try to download about a dozen of them track-by-track, which, as you found, did work, but I then gave up the will to live, and got a refund. It seems this is a problem Qobuz needs to overcome. If they can, I will definitely use them again. Be interesting if someone from Qobuz reads this thread - perhaps they can respond?
