Replacing Sky + HD HDMI Lead? Worth It?

Posted by: gtiboy on 04 February 2015

Has anyone replaced the generic Sky+ HDMI lead that came in the box and replaced it with anything more expensive?

There is a lot of talk saying fore and against, but the QED HDMI-P seems to get a good following on amazon and some seem convinced it improves their Sky + HD picture over the standard lead.

Are any of you guys here running a different lead? If so why? did you see a difference?

Expensve, yes. But read the reviews.

The one in the box is absolutely fine. If you notice a difference with a more expensive one, you're imagining it! Honestly, don't waste your money.

....but it hasn't got a pretty green light on it!     I'm sure that's where the other $1600+  comes from

perhaps one of the most sensible comments I have heard recently regarding differences in types of cable. Well said Tony

Yeah yeah. Bytes are bytes. Whatever.

I have a QED and think it is better. But then I do have a decent processor and screen.

My processor (Anthem) and screen (65" Panasonic plasma) are pretty good too. Tell you what, if you can really tell with a proper test between cables, I would be truly amazed. Bet you can't...

Only time i've noticed a difference was with cheap three meter cables, which were truly dire otherwise I can't see a difference.  Bits are bits, now I'm going back to listen to my music streaming to my Hugo via a Chord Anthem Reference

Calibrated Tony?

Panansonic plasma and Arcam processor for me.

I needed longer cables so decided to buy slightly expensive ones.

I'm not suggesting that there is a massive difference.

I use Gordon at Convergent AV - he's done all my previous projectors.
