Adding Meta Data to downloaded content

Posted by: Matt Gear on 04 February 2015

Evening everyone

I'm in the process of downloading my Hi-Res versions of the Led Zep boxsets I've recently bought. Whilst I've been able to add the FLAC files to my QNAP NAS, they're not appearing correctly in my Naim App. (I'm running an NDX).

Can anyone advise how I can go about doing this. When previously ripping CDs I take care of the Meta-data within DBPowerAmp, but as this hasn't been used, I'm not sure how to go about it, and also looking in the folder structure where the FLAC files reside, can't see any other clues.

For reference, I'm using the Mac Beta version of DBPowerAmp on a MacBook.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

If you were using the Windows version, you would just right-click on the FLAC  file(s) and would see the option "edit metadata".  Don't know if this applies to the Mac version, which is why haven't installed the Mac beta.

Currently I am using ID3Tag when I want to edit metadata on the Mac.  There are lots of Mac metadata editors out there for you to try.

I know there are several modules for dBpoweramp so apologies if I'm talking about bits you don't have. My installation gives me a right click option to convert files, which can also be used to selectively strip tags out. I find this useful for downloads and usually strip everything out before right clicking again, this time to add/edit tags. Works lovely for me.

I don't know DBPowerAmp, but I can really recommend the Metadatics for mac. You can find it in AppStore and it costs about $10. It is quite advanced and covers most file formats. I have used it only a few days, but I am really happy about it.

I have be struggling with Lord of The Rings box set downloaded as files. Couldn't get them sorted right, but I am getting there now after lots of trials and waiting for the SSD Serve to update its library.

I am not sure it is a good idea to use any third party App to edit metadata for ripped CDs as you then make changes to Naims own library which is "forbidden" and can cause the Naim database to get out of sync beyond the point of any return. Use the Naim iPad Apps instead. Thats what I have been told from Phil.

Last, I am not sure what your exact problem is with the Led Zep files/presentation ...

Thanks all. Have tried Metadatics and it seems to be doing what I want!
