Qobuz HiFi Sublime

Announced on the French Qobuz site, a new subscription service called Qobuz HiFi Sublime. 219 euro a year gives you, in addition to the standard subscription, 24 bit downloads for the price of MP3 downloads for a major part of the catalogue. Thats only 20 euro a year more than the standard subscription, but you can't subscribe monthly, only annually.

Yes they have been bothering me about it for months. But I don't like the idea of streaming over downloads - I want to be able to play music anywhere - not just where there is a connection. Importantly, of the 27 downloads that I have bought from them, only 4 have been available as 24 bit.

You can "store" streams in an offline library on desktop, tablet or phone and play without connection.

But the significant change here is that they are massively reducing the price of hi-res downloads, which should particularly suit you if you arent happy with streaming,

That's getting money up front with a twelve month commitment. Good marketing but not for me thanks. I doubt I'd spend that much on 24bit downloads in a year and I cancelled my subscription after the one month free trial because I didn't think I'd use it often enough.

The 24 bit downloads are reduced to the same as the 16 bit. Great for the 15% of my downloads

If you have a  bluetooth connection between phone and the car you might be able to.

I have Spotify premium and load up my phone with offline content to play in the car. It works very well. Anything decent I want I buy on vinyl....

Bluetooth/Headphone/Lightning out works in the car very nicely. Offline is cached in the Qobus App/Desktop. I shouldn't think a stand alone portable without access to a Qobus App would work.

So basically not as good as a simple memory stick loaded with individual files and playlists.
