A new problem has arisen since upgrading my NDX and UnitiQute to the latest firmware. When I select a player, select UPnP as the input (or leave it selected) and select a track to play, the music seems to be streamed correctly BUT doesn't actually play through the speakers. The inputs all seem in place for the Naim amps / dac etc but no sound comes out. If I select the same track again and ask to play it, it seems to work fine. Happens on both players and from any nstream source (iphone, iPad etc). Haven't seen this behaviour before, anyone else got it or know how to resolve it?

I had exactly this problem with my ND5 XS. For me it has been intermittent.
Steve Hopkins at Naim asked me to check whether the problem occurs when using the unit's front panel control, but before I did so the problem resolved itself (for the time being).
Sorry not to provide a solution but it would be interesting to keep an eye on this issue.
At the moment I've reverted to n-stream on an iPod touch as the Naim app was irritating me too much...

This sounds similar (but perhaps not the same) to a known fault with the current Naim firmware. That is on UPnP play out the SPDIF output can fail. This occurs typically when the streamer plays to the end of the playlist and a new playlist or track is selected. The workaround is to stop and start the stream mid flow, select a track with a different sample rate or select a new input and then select back again.
Currently waiting for the new Naim firmware to resolve this fault.

As Simon says, this sounds like the SPDIF issue with the last firmware upgrade. Whilst the workaround isn't insuperable, it's getting a little old as the year rolls on (this is at least two months and counting).
I would appreciate a fix, or at least some indication of when a fix might be ready.
