Bizarre changes to Internet radio on HDX

Posted by: ray sheldon on 16 February 2015

All,

I wonder if anyone else has experienced the sudden severe downgrade in quality of Absolute radio on a HDX. Ok, it was only 128kbps before, but certainly listenable whilst getting ready for work. For a few days it sounds like a MW or LW broadcast. Naim's own and Radio Paradise are ok so it would seem that it is something to do with Absolute themselves.

Now, and this is was I don't understand, streaming onto my Pure alarm clock in the bedroom is unaffected! Although, the HDX and Pure seem to be different stations although the display is the same?

So, I tuned into Absolute 80's, same music playing, although one is a second or 2 behind the other....HDX quality very poor, Pure quality as it's always been and sounds better?

Ive rebooted the HDX, no change.

The only thing that I've changed recently is going to fibre. Everything else works fine, what can it possibly be?

Ray.

Mmm, not with my HDX to check at the moment, but I did notice one other station sounding similarly poor this morning.  I know the BBC have changed formats recently, don't know if others have recently too?

Does it still show 128kbps, or has that changed?  Also, does the 128kbps mean 128kbps at all times, or can that be reduced at peak listening times to accommodate more listeners?  I guess that could affect it.  I'll be the first to admit I don't understand a huge amount on these technical issues, so I'm afraid I've not been much help really, I've just added more questions to the mix!

Hi,

I don't have an HDX, but I have discovered over the past couple of days that I have not been able to play Linn Radio, Linn Classical and Linn Jazz radio channels on my ND5XS. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

My Linn Klimax system is out of action at the moment, and so I can't double check at the moment to see if the problem lies with the radio channels themselves..
