Troubleshoot streaming from NAS

hi all, I added a zoneripper NAS to my uniti lite set up using Asset upnp. All has been OK but recently tracks break and the network seems to fail repeatedly.  Hub issues maybe? BT home hub with supposedly fast broadband.

It isn't a broadband problem as you're not using the Internet when you are streaming via UPnP.

you don't say how you are connected to your uniti lite. Wired or wifi ? Have you got a switch in the netwok ?

Hi there. No, you're right, it isn't a broadband issue. the uniti/NAS link is wireless using the home hub so I guess the problem us with connectivity in the house. Many thanks.

If you can hard wire your connection via a switch. It is much more stable.

If it's a Home Hub 5 then it could be a BT maintenance bot (run I beleove by Alcatel) that peridocally logs on to the device, checks the firmware and often as not restarts the wireless services. Thus the stream fails.

it shows up in the router's logs. This was happening to me up to 11 times a day, but not really showed up when streaming. I complained to BT customer service who acknowledged that there were routines that did check firmware status but didn't know that it did a restart (even when no update had been performed), and what's more hadn't a clue as to how to make it stop.

At that point I bought as Asus RT-AC68U router (still need the BT modem though) and my wireless streaming has been faultless ever since.

I know "buy something else" in answer to a query like this is dreadfully naff, but try as I might I couldn't find a way to stop the HH5 resetting the wireless and I'm not in any position to wire the NDX to the network, so Hobson's Choice for me.

Than you various for your replies. Yes, also recognise the BT hub's tendency to 'switch off' an association so you have to log in again. Sitting right now listening to Carlos Santana (yes, child of 1970's schooling) and all is fine. But ... any views on wireless boosters?
