db Poweramp re-tagging
Posted by: Arnaud on 21 February 2015
I'm currently using db Poweramp for Mac to rip my CDs. Is there a way I can change any information on a CD I've already ripped (which is now a file in my NAS)? I just can't find a way to do that.
Thank you for your help!
I use a freeware program called mp3tag. Just download it, find the album/folder on you NAS and edit the details you need to. Don't foget to save the changes before you quit the program though.
Metadatics.
Huge variety of features to help make multiple changes easily.
Don't know about the Mac version of dBpoweramp, but on a pc you just right click the file (or set of files) and you get an option to edit ID tag - ie a tag editor. Why not ask on the dBpoweramp forum? I have also found J River Media Center to have absolutely first class tag editing facilities.

I highly recommend Metadatics for the Mac. You open the folder, and the tracks and all of their tags appear. You can edit the tags for one track, more than one, or all at the same time. Very easy to use!
Currently trying out the Mac version. Took me a little while to figure it out, but you can use dBpoweramp Mac to change ID3 tags.
Right click over the audio file you want to edit (or files, if you select multiple ones). At the bottom of the window is a bit called 'Services'. If you click on that bit, lo and behold the options to convert and edit using dBpoweramp are there.
If editing, you will need to drag the bottom edge of the editing window down to see all the id3 tags.
I'm a PC / Windowz user, but maybe the following still might be worth considering
dBpoweramp is OK, but its a bit slow & limited for a lot of tagging
I find AudioShell - they have a Mac version - simple & easy.
It handles .wav files as well as any other I've tried & it really does an excellent job that does not require a lot of IT knowledge & is pretty fool proof for dummies (me)
Thank you very much all of you, I'll try those various solutions.
Dungassin, I've tried your method and I think I found what you mean: I selected a single file (= song) and made a right click and made the choice of "Edit Tag with DB Poweramp" and arrived to the tags of the song, which I seem to be able to modify: so that's great in a way. Thanks for that.
I find the interface rather poor.
I tried to do it for the whole songs of an album at a time, but it didn't really work...
I was actually hoping to get back to the Album Interface I got when I first ripped the CD. Does anyone know if that's possible?
I don't know what you mean by saying you can't do all the album songs at once. Just select all the Files of the album in Finder (DON'T select the PNG file in that folder), or select multiple items individually (Command-Left Click Mac; CTRL-Left Click Windows)
Right Click on any of the selected files, then amend a Tag, change album Art, whatever. Ny chanes will be applied to all of the selected files.
Of course, this is not useful if you wish to edit track names as opposed to items such as Album, Album Artist. To change any item which only applies to one track, you select that track only.
The only way I know of to get the original view is to open CD Ripper and put the original CD in your drive. Usually you will see any changes you made to the default metadata, and then you can make amendments before re-ripping the CD. Personally I just use the method I describe. in my last post.
I should point out that when doing this it does seem to revert to default metadata eventually. I am unsure as to whether this is dependent on number of discs ripped since the original rip, or to elapsed time.
