Can't wake Mu-so from 'deep sleep'...

Posted by: DriesV on 23 February 2015

I bought a Mu-so last week. Really loving it! Sensational sound.

I'm having a slightly annoying issue though... Whenever I put the Mu-so in 'deep sleep' by holding the standby button, I can't get it to 'wake up' again the next morning.
I've tried tapping the standby button on the control knob several times, pressing and holding the standby button for a couple seconds, repeating these actions using the remote... Nothing works. The only way to wake up the Mu-so is to unplug it from mains and plug it in again.

What can I do to wake the Mu-so from deep sleep?

Hi, I had exactly the same problem and after ringing naim technical support I was advised that I need to return the Unit.

The new one seems a little better but still does it 50% of the time. Seems like it may be an intrinsic fault. Why not report it to technical support?

Ouch...

I did mail support already. Just wanted to check here whether other users had the same issue. Apparently they have.

Let me know how it goes as would be good to be able to put in deep sleep if there is some kind of fix. Will you return yours?

There is obviously the possibility that I have had two faulty units , which based upon what naim support said is the case.It was such a hassle first time can't be bothered to return a second especially as it would appear others have this fault.

Cheers

Sam.

I think it doesn't bother me enough to return it, but then it bothers me that my unit might be broken.

I'll just wait a while to see what other users are experiencing. And for an oficial statement from Naim support on this issue.

Pretty much where I am at. Anyone else have this issue?

I've only used deep sleep once (when I went away on holiday), and ended up having to power cycle via the mains switch to get it to wake up on my return

I thought the behaviour was a bit odd.

Seems like we have the same problem.

Probably not helpful but - a kiss?

Posted on: 23 February 2015 by DriesV

Well, then I guess I won't bother with putting it into deep sleep. Just wished that network LED wasn't so bright.

Still hoping that someone from Naim can chime in on this...

I have the same issue with deep sleep.

I spoke to Naim and they are going to release a new firmware,i hope the new one will resolve this issue.

I had the same issue.  Muso support advised to unplug the unit then wait 15 minutes - but additionally.

1. Touch the Naim App

2. Touch the Settings Icon in the top right hand corner of the screen

3. Touch Other Settings

4. Touch Auto Standby Time

5. Scroll through the options to change the duration of the time. Scroll up to switch it off by touching Never

Hi Derek,

Did this resolve it?

Thank

Hi Sam,

To be honest, I seldom use deep sleep mode now.  But I tried altering the settings last night and I was able to wake the Muso this morning.  So a qualified 'yes.' I was just relieved that unplugging and waiting 15 minutes could wake the Muso as it had appeared totally inert.

Phew!

Thanks for the heads-up, Derek.

I'm confident now that a future firmware release will solve the issue.

What on earth is deep sleep mode?  Sounds like something from a James Bond book

It's the difference between 0.5W and 4W in standby .

I bought a Muso for my cousin before Christmas.  I tested it for 2-3 weeks to see what all that fuss was about.

Yes, I too spotted that sometimes it was not possible to wake up that bloody thingy from deep sleep. It was nothing that unplugging/plugging could not fix though..

Hi,

We are aware of an issue that affects a number of mu-so as far as waking from deep sleep and have a software fix for that which should be in the next firmware release for the mu-so.

It prevents the top panel UI controlling the unit for a couple of minutes whilst you clean it...

Phil

As part of the firmware upgrade is there any chance of making the network LED less bright when in normal sleep mode.  I have to put it into deep sleep so it doesn't light up the bedroom...
