Can't wake Mu-so from 'deep sleep'...

Posted by: DriesV on 23 February 2015

I bought a Mu-so last week. Really loving it! Sensational sound.

I'm having a slightly annoying issue though... Whenever I put the Mu-so in 'deep sleep' by holding the standby button, I can't get it to 'wake up' again the next morning.
I've tried tapping the standby button on the control knob several times, pressing and holding the standby button for a couple seconds, repeating these actions using the remote... Nothing works. The only way to wake up the Mu-so is to unplug it from mains and plug it in again.

What can I do to wake the Mu-so from deep sleep?

I don't have a Muso, but I'd like the green lights on my Naim gear to be less bright (or 'user configurable!') I find them intrusive at times - much brighter than on the old olive units.

And how about it drawing open the curtains as well ?

Is 'alarm clock' functionality that ridiculous?

I would totally love it if Mu-so would wake me up with some nice tunes...

Yes, that'd be a very useful addition.

As an aside, a few days ago SWMBO had some friends over to help organise the local church's charity feast. They all sat in our conservatory & one of them, glancing across at the Muso, wondered if it was something to place her coffee cup on to keep it warm...

But there wouldn't be time display on the mu-so, you would have to have a phone or tablet nearby. Unless you could programme it with your phone/tablet and not bothered about having a time display on the unit.

Noooo! That's my biggest concern with the mu-so, a cup or glass of something finding its way into the well that surrounds the volume control. I hope that the designers added a lip to prevent spilled liquids from getting inside the unit. Say it is so Joe.

+1 for clock and setting for the LED floodlight

Ordered my Mu-so for bedroom - no UK FM or DAB in Switzerland - to discover clock missing  (told it exists on Superuniti) - its not going to knock out the Sonos without this ....

Hoping Phil and the team can get the firmware update ready quickly.

I don't have a problem with the LED connection light, unless you mean the one on the front and that doesn't bother me, as it is blocked from view by a pillar on the stand I use. However, the Muso's annoying feature of switching itself off every now and again, even with standby set at 4 hours and only when used with my TV, is a 'feature' I could do without. I resolve it by using the handset to switch it off and on, sometimes several times, then stabbing my way through the connection options until sound resumes. This is necessary because it is on a shelf below the tv and reaching the big control knob is nigh on impossible.

Technically, I think the connection light at the side goes to flashing white before returning to purple or whatever it should be. I am far from being a complete technophobe and just want the hardware to work consistently, but it does appear that plenty of Naim owners are prepared to live with these technical 'quirks' an acceptable return for musical performance. Not sure if buyers at the Muso level are ultimately going to be so loyal. To me, a Muso is a Fiat not a Ferrari and should just 'run'.

One caveat. I am not 100% sure that Sky are completely innocent but my internet and wifi service does appear to be reliable.

Dear Sky,

I humbly apologise to you so please call off the lawyers. How an optical connection between a TV and a Muso could be impacted by your router or wifi is beyond me as well.

Hi,

As has already been discussed elsewhere on these forums, it has been found that when the DHCP lease is renewed on *SOME* routers then the DHCP lease renewal forces a reset of the mu-so hardware - hence the audio drops for around 20 seconds or so as the network connection is reinstated.

We have been made aware of this issue and have a fix for it in the next mu-so firmware update.

Best

Phil
