System Automation volume control stopped working after firmware update

Posted by: Nigel on 01 March 2015

Hi

I've just updated my firmware on the NDS to the latest release (did not need it for Spotify, hence waited).  The update went fine, but now I find the volume controls no longer work.  I've checked the system automation settings and all seems correct to me.

Any ideas, this is a big issue for me as the equipment is not located in the listening room!

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The latest streamer firmware update forces a factory settings reset so you need to re-enable system automation on the NDS. Go into the NDS settings menu>system automation> Preamp> enable.

i'm assuming that you still have the mini jack lead linking the remote out on the NDS to the remote in on your preamp.

Check the settings on the app. audio settings > show volume control.

All was working before the update, and no cables have been touched.

The issue appears to be NDS communicating with the PreAmp.

if I select a port on the DAC the correct port is selected, however the "Tuner" port on the preamp is not.

The same applies to selecting the Streamer.  The Steamer queue the correct track but the "CD" port on the PreAmp is not selected.

When I go into system automation -> Preamp it says the following:

Enabled Yes

Pre CD-[Streamer]

Pre Tuner-[DAC Input]

If you were then to select Pre CD, from that menu the submenu is displayed showing

Re CD

------

Enabled NO

Name Pre CD

You select Enabled and then Yes, but this is NEVER saved

Is this correct?

Just checked the settings on my own NDS and this also says "No" for Enabled in the Pre-CD submenu so that setting seems correct as I cannot change it either but I can control the volume on my SN2 via the app.

I see that you are using an nDac between the NDS and the preamp which is not a setup I'm familiar with. I'm assuming that you have checked that the digital output has been enabled in the NDS settings menu.

Managed to sort it. Did a Factory Settings -> Reset Sys. Automation

Reconfigured

All is well again.

Thanks for your help.
