Head on collision on the A90 Aberdeen

Posted by: Blueknowz on 31 March 2011

Shocking footage has emerged of the moment a lorry driver came face-to-face with a Vauxhall Corsa heading the wrong way onto a dual carriageway.

The Corsa veers to avoid one lorry heading off the busy A90 road in Scotland, and heads straight into the path of another.

The second lorry then swerves to avoid a potentially fatal collision and loses control of his vehicle, which then tips onto its side and slides off the road, spilling its load of cement bags across the road in the process. Amazingly, neither the lorry driver nor the 20-year-old female driver of the Vauxhall was seriously hurt.

The whole incident was captured on the on-board Roadhawk GPS system on the lorry, which acted like a black box recorder and allowed police to see that the lorry was travelling at a speed-limiter permitted 56mph at the time of the crash.

The road was closed for around six hours while the authorities investigated the incident and cleared up the resulting mess. The young Corsa driver has since been charged with dangerous driving, and is likely to face court in the coming weeks.

20 year-old female Vauxhall drivers. The scourge of Britain's roads.

If she has not been to Court should that not be 'allegedly'? Indeed, should it be aired publically (assuming she has pleaded not guilty)?

Bruce

I agree with you, but.....

Where would that leave Britain's news/journalistic industry?

Cheers

If only there'd been a speed camera...

WOMEN DRIVERS!!!

if a speed camera caught it she would have been going backwards at -50mph.

I am still wondering how she managed it. She must have been driving the wrong way for quite a distance.

My late grandfather made it on to the national news back in the early 90s by driving the wrong way down the M6 for about ten miles. It was, of course, mainly his own fault, but the poor old bugger got confused by the large number of road signs at a junction, panicked, and took the wrong turn. Nobody was hurt, no crashes or damage. He stopped driving not long after. I've learned to ignore most road signs now, and just take my time a bit more at busy/over-signed junctions. Thankfully, some councils are seeing sense and are removing the unnecessary signs. Or is that the thieving pikeys? Tony

The Corsa has come onto the northbound carriageway over the flyover bridge you see and has come down the wrong side of the flyover. She has in effect come onto the A90 using the northbound exit slip road.  That stretch of road near to Portlethen is often on your morning travel reports for a crash happening.
