Irritatingly catchy tunes

Posted by: Dungassin on 01 April 2011

Woke up this morning with "Teddy Bears' Picnic" running through my head.  Just now managed to oust it, but I've now started humming "The Runaway Train" ... sigh ...

Once in a while something like that catches in my brain and won't leave.  The most irritating part is I'll remember part of it, then not be able to complete it and start all over again......AAARRGH!

Since getting the remastered 'Let it Bleed', I can't get "Love in Vain" out of my head.

If you listen to bbc 6 music they refer to this as an "ear worm" I often wake up with really random tunes in my head......

We all live in a Yellow Submarine.........(sorry)

It was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini ...

Sorry, just been listening to "British Hit Parade 1960".  Amazing how many songs from that period used a pizzicato violin.  Then in the 80s it was that omnipresent digital drum sound and the bell-like voice of the Yamaha DX7.

There must be a few Boney M tunes still to come. How about Belfast? What a bizarre song that was. Catchy though.
