Where have The Archers gone?

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 07 March 2015

When I try to listen to the podcast, it just says that the BBC's new format is not compatible with my device.

What has happened? How will I now catch up with happenings in Ambridge?

I guess that for time being you'll have to do it in old fashioned way and download (subscribe) the podcast and play it through your iPhone/Pad.

HH, (speaking as a fellow, if occasional Archers listener), shouldn't this be in the Padded Cell forum?

What's weird is that the weekly omnibus works, but the daily episodes do not. You'd think the BBC would use a consistent format for all the podcasts. The daily podcasts won't work on our Roberts Internet radio either.

In my view, the Archers is miserable, but I guess this thread isn't the place to air such an opinion!

HH, for what it's worth, I can't replicate your problem, BBC podcasts all seem to work fine for me.

That's odd. If I click on the individual episodes, I get this....

Just tried it again, and now I'm getting the same as you - strange that it only started coming up now, though. For me, the workaround is to play it through my iPhone > Airplay > Airport Express, where sound quality is not a big issue. That is definitely still working as normal.

You shouldn't need to fanny around though - it should just work. What are the BBC up to?

I couldnt get to radio four at all the other day, what was unusual was a recorded voice telling me so, it was most odd.
