Davis Cup 2015

Great performance by the UK team this weekend and great atmosphere provided by the audience in Glasgow.

Well done to everyone involved.

And how on earth did Murray manage to win the first set, when he got a fair pummelling?

Hung on in there and playing in front of his home crowd.

I watched and listened to a bit but switched off quickly. For me the audience was beyond supportive/patriotic and rapidly became annoying. Cheering every single point a bit OTT. I like to watch tennis sometimes but this put me off.

Bruce,

This is the Davis Cup - it's what happens at that event, so no strawberries and cream Wimbledon politeness there!

The UK crowd was patriotic, very, very loud but most of all very, very fair (even commented on by the Bryan brothers).

OTT is what happens in Italy!

I was there Friday and Sunday and it was an amazing experience, especially James Ward's comeback against Isner in the second singles rubber on Friday.

Agree. Davis Cup manages to combine two things I generally find unappealing - professional sports and nationalism. I'll pass.

Bruce did you never watch Henman at Wimbledon? I found the audience there to typically quite embarrassingly one sided.

Yes, and agree. Support for Murray seems to be less annoying at Wimbledon because, lets face it, when he is winning he is one of us and when he loses he is Scottish.
